Proto Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I was serching for a topic covering this but seing none I decided to start a new one. Is it just me or the test mens that guys at Pandemic are rewriting PC net code? If so it wold be the most essential update this game could ever get. In further perspective we could get FPS cap removed, linux server binaries with remote console and hanful of new admin commands. What do you thing, perhaps I'm too much of an optimist .
Guest Jed Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Glad somebody posted something about it. Discuss, people!
TK-8252 Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 They're rewriting the multiplayer code months after the game's release? Why didn't they just push the release date back so they could have actually finished SWBF instead of rushing out this beta they call the finished product?
Fds Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Probably because it should be dedicated to a future swbII...
Lindsey Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 I signed up for it. Since we have chats with the devs maybe I can knock some sense into them ....like adding in the spectator mode No....I never give up
LightNinja Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 Originally posted by Fds Probably because it should be dedicated to a future swbII... i would kill pandemic guys if they do that, i spent my money buying swbf and i played just 1 week and i could have bought HL2 instead of this game. So i hope they do an update that makes swbf more 'playable' than how its now
Whoopknacker Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 My guess is that they wrote the net code for the Xbox and PS2 and not enough for the PC. I dunno Im not an expert but they obviously are aware of the situation and they likely want to have a fix before Star Wars EpIII comes out and brings in more players.
Raxor Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 i signed up for it, it be good to have some better net code for this game. i was playing hoth this morning on my dedicated server at 50 - 60 fps, but apparrently something happens when the fps goes below a certain value?

Because, if they would have done so, we were still waiting the game to bo released! I like it as is now, with a minor improvements to do, but i'm fully satisfied of it and i'm glad that they released the game in time. At least, they are releasing patches and giving support to us. For the mp test, i wonder if it can be related to an esxpansion pack... and what kind of presence is required in the servers, to the testers.
Stryker412 Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 I got in. Anyone else? You bet your ass I'm bringing up Remote admin, linux binaries, FPS cap, etc.
Stryker412 Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 Guy's it's not too late to join. You can be in the beta test still and have your input heard.
Proto Posted March 8, 2005 Author Posted March 8, 2005 Well, I applied before I started this thread, but apparently was't so lucky to participate .
Stryker412 Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 Try again. My friend also applied but never heard anything, yet I'm getting him in. Even the dev tried to find his app and couldn't. Maybe some got lost somehow? Try applying again, as we've been told we need more people.
Raxor Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 i heard they wouldnt take anyone from the us and canada due to the fact their laws dont apply to other contries which is a pain...
Raxor Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 that came out wrong it should have read those who are outside the us and canada cant take part.
MandalorianRage Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 I'm in... Sadly I had to mail in my NDA, rather than fax.. how long did it take you guys to get the stuff? Or have they not sent anything yet?
Darth Sinical Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 I faxed mine back in, then I got info via e-mail a couple days later.
