I was wondering wether it was possible to make a mask/helmet that looks like a robe hood. So that way we can have hooded robes...kinda.

Maybe two versions for light and darkside, the darkside version hiding the eyes slightly like Kriea's.

I'd do this myself but I suck at modelling and scripting. I can barely get through the Gmax tutorials.

Hey I wa swondering if you could make a mod where it adds a new planet. Ann like 2 outposts etc. Where you can go do all this smuggling, and you can add new people on planets so you can do cross galaxy bounty hunting? or smuggling, good way to make credits fast?

Maybe even add some new items, like spice and stuff?

If I remeber correctly, you can't add a new world, only modify an existing one. :(

Sounds like my dream of playing as a more futuristic mandolorian are shot eh? :(

Well I guest can try a different request.

Ok everyone knows of the sith troopers from kotor1 and 2 right? Well in the first kotor game you aquired this armor as a disguise. I was dissappoint when you could not get it in kotor2. Basically I'm asking would someone make it possible so that you can have sith trooper armor in kotor2?

I was brainstorming this weekend and hit upon an idea. Why not make the force powers give alignment bonuses or hits, depending on the power used and your force alignment? It doesn't make sense for a LS Jedi to be running around Storming people to death, or for a Sith Lord to be using Master Heal or something like that. Is there a way that someone could do a mod where, let's say, every 5th time that you use Storm that you are penalized with a DS point? It could really make things more difficult.

Of course, I almost always play LS, so it might not work as well for those of you who are more inclined towards the dark side. But I still think it would be a cool mod.

How is it illegal to use content from one KOTOR game for the other? KOTOR 2 has alot of character models and items from KOTOR 1 and in the past several people have ported things from one similar game to another and it hasnt been illegal so how is this so with KOTOR1/KOTOR2? If youre not making any money off of it then I dont see how it could be illegal. Seems like Lucasarts supports you guys doing mods for their games anyways. Its kinda dumb they can port junk from one of their games to another and then turn around and say its illegal for any one else to do that.

Well in a way, it IS a money loss for them. They have every right to port their own material from game to game, just as we have every right to port our own custom mods, mainly models, from game to game. However, let's consider what happened if we could port stuff from one game to another.

Scenario 1:

All original stuff from KotOR 1 is ported into KotOR 2. This can lose money for LucasArts, because everyone will buy only K2 and ignore K1 completely. Why buy both games when you can download one? Not the worst scenario.

Scenario 2:

The more common "Port K2 into K1."

If we did this, LucasArts would lose a LOT of money on Kotor2 sales. Why buy the new game, just download it right?

In the end, they can port their own stuff, we can port our own stuff, but we can't port their stuff. Though I think they can port our stuff according to the agreement we all made when we installed the game.

And in regards to other games, just because it's accepted doesn't mean it's legal. The first game I think of is JO/JA. A lot of material is ported back and forth, but if you'd like to look at JA/JO's main mods sites, Pcgamemods does its best to remove all such illegal files. Jk3files has a disclaimer I believe, which basically says that they are not responsible for illegal content on their site, and that responsibility for illegal material is directed at the creator.

So to summarize, it's illegal 'cause they said so. 'Nuff said. It's the rules. We may not make money, but we can lose them money. They port assets to save time remaking them, but don't want anyone else to be porting entire games.

People would still buy both games. Nobody would want to make a total conversion of kotor 1 to kotor 2 and nobody would wanna wait around to have something like that download so people would still buy both games if you could port some material from one to another.

They have every right to port their own material from game to game, just as we have every right to port our own custom mods, mainly models, from game to game. However, let's consider what happened if we could port stuff from one game to another.

Of course, but when they ported stuff from one game to another they changed alot of it so it was either a new area or the area they used was added onto/altered significantly. Thats more of where I was headed. I wouldve figured theyd let people do stuff like that for custom mods.

Scenario 1:

All original stuff from KotOR 1 is ported into KotOR 2. This can lose money for LucasArts, because everyone will buy only K2 and ignore K1 completely. Why buy both games when you can download one? Not the worst scenario.

I wouldnt suspect that people would want to port all material from one game to another or have the time to do that. I just thought theyd let the modders use material from one game as a sort of base for what they wanna do in the other game. Youd still end up having to have both games.

Scenario 2:

The more common "Port K2 into K1."

If we did this, LucasArts would lose a LOT of money on Kotor2 sales. Why buy the new game, just download it right?

It would be hard to port k2 into k1 because k2 can do things that k1 cant. So people would still buy both.

And in regards to other games, just because it's accepted doesn't mean it's legal.

I just think they wouldve made more of a stink about it if it was such a problem for them.

I always used to find all sorts of stuff on supposed official sites that looked like stuff ported from JO to JA. I mean if its not the whole game or if its not just whole stuff taken from one game to another and used as is then why should it be illegal?

So to summarize, it's illegal 'cause they said so. 'Nuff said. It's the rules. We may not make money, but we can lose them money.

Unless you port the whole game youre not losing them money because people still gotta buy both games.

They port assets to save time remaking them, but don't want anyone else to be porting entire games.

So why dont they let us port the assets so that we dont have to spend time making whole new areas that resemble those ones anyways? Like if we wanted to make a new Dantooine area for example, why have to make a whole new area when we can base it on one that is already done but just add onto and retexture it so that its more our creation and not just something we copied from them.

It's because with some people, you give them some room, and they take a lot more. True it's unlikely that someone's going to convert on of the games into the other, but I've seen it done, and LA wouldn't want to risk it. They don't want to do anything that could lose a single penny. And true to port stuff you'd have to have both games, but what about the downloaders? If someone ported modules from K2 to K1 for mod purposes, I'd be thrilled. If they did that before I bought K2, then why would I buy K2? That's fifty bucks LA lost due to modding.

The bottom line is that it doesn't matter what we think, LA says no porting. So no porting it is.

To avoid clutter, if you have further questions, PM me. Or better yet, PM D333, she has more info on it than me, being a lawyer.

I don't think it's so much a matter of Lucasarts but the fact that both games were created by 2 different companies.

KOTOR was created by BIOWARE

TSL was created by OBSIDIAN

Both companies created or edited most, if not all, model and texture files and in doing that they became their property.

Lucasarts can do what ever they want cause they contracted those companies to create the games and lucasarts owns them. Where if we were to port over items we would be adding them to the other guys game.

To end it this forum has decided not to discuss porting in an attemp to not cause any undue conflict with any of the companies involved in these games.

To the moderaters if you have a problem with my stated opinion please let me know and I will correct or delete this post, unless you do it for me.

  • 2 months later...

First off I am new at this so if I make any mistakes in doing this please be understanding.

That said I was wondering if anyone could make a heavy armor mod for TSL that looks like the armor used by the bounty hunter Zam Wesell in Episode II Attack of the clones.

With status of

Defense: 14

Dexterity: 6

Stealth: 5

Is upgradeable

Bonus Feat: gives the user the

ability to

use the wristlauncher

can only be used by the

the female PC

I understand that mods take lots and lots of time and energy

to make. Trust me I only posted a request here because I neither

have the experience or software to do such things. So if I had to

wait a while so someone could make the mod for me I wouldn't

mind so long as someone at least tried. I hope I am not asking

too much or being too rued
