jokemaster
Originally posted by Darth Groovy My experience with LucasForums, is that the elders of this community and respective owners, still have a VERY close relationship with LucasArts. Not to sound arrogant, but when WE know something, YOU will know something, and those who hold the rank of Supermod and higher, usually hear about these things before anyone else does. Which is why we love you. Or at least I do, much as you try to ignore me. JA is also mostly believed to be a spin-off, like Mysteries of the Sith, not a true sequel. I'd like one of the following star wars games, or a combination of all of them: 1. What has been mentioned about a cross between Deus Ex and Star Wars, maybe start as a new (or perhaps old) republic recruit, and from there you can be a good soldier, go rouge and become a mercenary, smuggler or bounty hunter, become a jedi, betray the republic and become a soldier for whoever the bad guys are this time, become a sith on your own, toe the line between dark side and light side, becoming a kind of mercenary jedi? 2. An updated Rebellion, but it seems that I'm getting part of my wish with Empire At War 3. A SW game where you're not a jedi, but a normal rebel soldier, using the Source engine, or maybe the new Unreal one, follow his campaign as a soldier, in battles from everywhere from Corusant, to Corellia, to escaping from Yavin 4 and Hoth, etc.
lassev
Originally posted by toms I don't see any Jedi Knight games coming up soon, i'm pretty sure they will be busy with the EP3 games for a while yet. JO/JA were made by Raven, and I don't think it really took that much time or effort directly on LEC's part to handle those games. And as we have seen, LEC has been outsourcing games also after those two. So, if Raven (or some other company) makes JK3, it wouldn't really affect that much the current level of LEC's busyness with other games.
toms
But, if you had exiled Jar Jar for being, well, useless, accident prone and an idiot. Would you instantly promote him to general simply because he brought you natalie portman? Really? Not unless Boss Nass got more out of her that we saw on screen! -------------- People have been asking for a bounty hunter game for ages, thinking we'd get something like an FPS version of mechwarrior merchenaries. Instead we got SW Bounty Hunter. People have been asking for a SW rebel soldier/stormtrooper game for ages, and what we got was Battlefront and Republic Commando Empire at war looks lovely, but it sounds to me like a basic RTS. What i want is a Rebellion/Imperium Galactica/Civ style empire building game where you can take a small, primitive faction and develop it over the course of a few centuries to try and rule the galaxy... but set in the SW universe, with their techs, races, etc... Galactic Civilisations, with the characters from rebellion and the graphics of Imperium Galactica 3. ---------- A deus Ex/Kotor style game would rock. It would be played first-person like deus-ex or JK. You could put points into skills, weapons and the force. So if you put all your development into the force and your saber then your accuracy with ranged weapons would be terrible. Or you could put all your points into your pistol skill and become a crack shot (with or without force power). Put points into charisma areas and get better options in conversations. Put them into tech areas and be able to repair and upgrade items better. Build your own custom weapons (like han's overpowered pistol, or kyle's custom pistol) and sabers. Boost your stealth or hacking skills. (make a ninja jedi! ) and maybe even build your own custom droid companion. Then set it between ep3 and 4, add in a few links to EU materials and characters like thrawn, threepio, the characters from the DROIDS cartoon

Completely. The Force, if depicted properly in SW games, will be so great, it'll put the best lightsabres to shambles. The next JK would do great with an ability to manipulate things. Imagine using ten-twenty metal crates, hovering them in the air and them ramming all of them precisely into a Stormtrooper group. Or maybe you can use things as a shield when dueling! Yeah phyiscs were left out in JA, but the ragdoll physics werent that fantastic either as they were a little buggy in JA. I sure hope they do release another Jedi Knight game sooner or later

I've thought along similar lines myself. You're hired. Oh...I just remembered. I don't work for Lucasarts. There definitely needs to be another JK game on the PC - using one of the new engines. It needs to have a new story, new characters, and places we've never been before. It needs excellent level design, intelligent AI, intuitive combat, the ability to use different tactics and follow different pathways to a common goal. It needs to be good. Will this happen? Your guess is as good as mine.
Finalnight
Update from Celebration III: A panel recently closed at Celebration 3 which revealed details on the new post-NJO book series. The title of the series was announced as being "Legacy of the Force". The era will be referred to as the "Legacy Era". The first book in the series by Aaron Allston will be entitled "Betrayal". There will be a hardback followed by two paperbacks, then that's repeated through the 9 books. The first is due in June 2006 with the others to follow every 3 months. The books will feature conflict stemming from "planetary interests that threaten peace" and Luke will be plagued by visions of "approaching darkness". Much of it will take place in the Outlands. The book covers a 2 - 3 year span and the main characters will be in their 60s which the authors referred to as "the new 40s". A few other items of interest emerged. Troy Denning revealed that Kyle Katarn has a role in Dark Nest as well as the Chiss. Raynar will reappear in the book as well. He's just been MIA, not dead. I don't work for Lucasarts. See! Just imagine what might have happened if anyone had listened to my ideas back on the Obi-wan or Jedi Outcast forums all those years ago!!! (Well, to be hoest we'd probably still have got dissppointing games, but at least they would have been ambitious failures!) 1. Does anybody talented work for lucasarts anymore....? *remembers they are now run by their accounting/marketing manager* 2. Have more than about 8 people in the world bothered to read to the end of the NJO series and have a clue what is going on? I'm currently rewatching DROIDS and for all its kid-friendly slapstick comedy it captures the feel of the original setting better than any of the recent books or games (except KOTOR). WHo would have thought it...
