Fair enough, it just look wierd in the screenie, but it'll most likely look a hell of a lot better killing things and moving about. Originally posted by DarthSmallz Is that right? Jeff
Well, I have started working on some saber color variations and here is what I have come up with. Two-Colored Sabers I would love to know what you think about these, and your ideas for other saber colors.

It is not just your alterations though (of which I love the colors) but all the saber blades I've seen are really WIDE and thick. I personally like a saber as wide as this. Like This That one is yellow with a green outer core but is still a normal sized blade. It's just my personal preference thou and like Matt said a post or two up. You should mod for you, but that's my take on it. BTW: Love the final robes look you did a really good job :D

Jeff
Well surprisingly, I got a result that I love on the first try editing my green and red saber. Take a look. Green and Red Saber The blade is thinner and it is straight all the way up, unlike the previous screenshot I posted. Hope you like it

General Kenobi
I did notice one other thing to that might help you. I noticed that saber blades widen (with the ambient light) in caves and other dark places. I took my first saber blade edit into a cave and the blade widened by triple from the ambient light it put out. I had to go in and narrow the outer glow to compensate. Just a little tip for ya just in case you didn't already know that (which I'm sure you did) Anywho... Looks good man and can't wait to see the finished product for the WIP. Xcom
If I were you, I'd work out the technical aspects of recruiting including dialogues, before doing anything else, because that's not an easy task.

Actually, Darth Smallz is working on the recruitment process currently while I work on the re-skins and such. @ Darth Melignous Thanks for the tip. Amazingly, I did not know that (who woulda thought?). I will warp to a cave and try it out there.

Keiko
Does anyone know how to make black transparent?
Lorden Darkblade
That saber is looking good Now, about the black thing, if I'm not mistaken it has something to do with the Alpha Channel. I can't clarify more cuz sadly I do not know more Hope I helped tho...
General Kenobi
Originally posted by DarthSmallz Does anyone know how to make black transparent? You can use a new channel called an alpha channel by utilizing the channels pallette/tab. Make a selecton and use that to create/start an alpha channel. ChAiNz.2da
Originally posted by DarthSmallz Does anyone know how to make black transparent? It depends on where the black is... Is it a saber color, armor, weapon.. etc? There's different techniques you'll need to use depending on what exactly the black color is on... If it's a saber color, it's going to be both part of the alpha channel and the .txi shader... If it's on a weapon or armor (that uses a CM_Baremetal shader) that's going to be a bit tough as the CM_Baremetal translates the alpha into "shininess" rather than transparency... However on clothing or the sort (that doesn't have a shader defined)... just use the alpha channel to mask out the black areas (by using black in the alpha to 'cover' the black areas). Be warned though, it will make whatever you do this tweak on look like "swiss cheese" if you're not careful
General Kenobi
Hey ChAiNz, what's the .txi file supposed to say anywho?
ChAiNz.2da
Originally posted by Darth Melignous Hey ChAiNz, what's the .txi file supposed to say anywho? Standard .txi for custom saber colors (which will make black transparent) should contain: blending additive decal 1 Name it exactly the same as your custom color .tga but use the .txi extension instead of .tga... If you want to make black visible (aka black sabers)... just kill the "blending additive" line: decal 1 You have to be careful however. Without the blending additive, if your core gets too large... the color bleeds onto the blade planes making your saber look like an 8-sided windshield wiper the blending additive smooths that out making your saber blade more round and semi-solid..
