txa1265
Let's go through Star Wars gaming history for ourselves ... list a game, genre, year and platform, and your feelings about it in a word, playability today, and suggested age range. For 'feelings', I suggest: - Love it - Like it - Meh - Hate it For instance: Dark Forces (FPS, PC/Mac, 1995) - - Love It! - not very playable in terms of graphics, controls and compatibility - suggest 10+ due to intense first person action List anything you can think of! txa1265
One note - as different system versions may differ in quality, only comment on the system you have played. (i.e. GameCube version of JKII is *not* the same gaming experience as the PC version) Knights of the Old Republic (PC/Mac, RPG, 2003) - Love It! - Glitching on ATi cards, but very playable on most hardware. - 10+ due to themes and intense action Knights of the Old Republic (PC, RPG, 2003) - Love It! (despite criticisms about ending) - Still has glitching on ATi cards, but very playable on most hardware. - 10+ due to themes and intense action Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight (PC, FPS, 1997) - Love It! - Hard to install on modern hardware, but plays great. - 10+ due intense action and bad death screams Jedi Knight: Mysterues of the Sith (PC, FPS, 1997) - Love It! - Hard to install on modern hardware, but plays great. - 10+ due to blocky, pixelated lust for Mara Jade Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast (PC, FPS, 2002) - Love It! - Very hardware accomodating, requirements moderate - 10+ due to very intense and immersive action Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (PC, FPS, 2003) - Love It! - More hardware-intense than JKII, still acceptable - 10+ due to very intense and immersive action Shadows of the Empire (PC, FPS/Hybrid, 1997) - 'Meh' - I had problems with it 5 years ago ... very finicky about OS version. - 10+ for the first person action. Lego Star Wars (PC, Action, 2005) - Love It! - Plays well, some have reported issues - E really means Everyone in this case Lego Star Wars (GBA, Action, 2005) - 'Meh' - Generall works well, some graphics and frame-rate issues. - All ages
•-BLaCKouT-•
Bloody hell Mike, you've covered all the games I play! Apart from... Dark Forces (FPS, Playstation, 1995) - - Lurrve It! - Compatability: Plays on PS1, PS2 and on good PS Emulators. Graphics: Ropey, but they weren't in 1995. Controls: Slower than the PC version, but easy to get used to. - 10+ due to creepy Dianogas in dark, wet places. B.
Neverhoodian
Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast (PC, FPS, 2002) -Love it! -Works fine on my semi-obsolete 600 Mhz Pentium III. -Great Star Wars lightsaber and blaster action. Definitely one of my favorites. Various mods are the icing to the delicious gameplay cake. -10+ due to shooting, stabbing, choking, electrocuting and (if you have dismemberment activated) decapitating foes. Force Commander (PC, Strategy, 2000) -Hate it -Should work on most PC's with Windows 98 and up -Good concept, but horrible in execution. Graphics were nice, but trying to manipulate the 3D camera was an exercise in frustration. Combine that with unbalanced gameplay, (let's face it, the Imperials owned the Rebels) bad game constraints (a 60 unit limit?! Laaaaaaaaame!) and a truly screwed up resource system (command points?! WTF?!) and you've got yourself one prime example of bantha poodoo. -10+ for violence, but I wouldn't really recommend this game to anyone. I might post some more later.
