It takes little pieces of your everyday webbrowsing and share it with the community, so that pages may load faster. Spot the problem yet? I'm fairly sure they'd only take the files in your cache, not your cookies, so that all of your private information would still be safe and sound. On topic, I think they just had a DNS problem. At least, I hope so. Because Google's like the one relative constant in the internet. If it gets hacked, it'll turn the world wide web into talking fishes, green suns, and California-cheese moons.
