REDJOHNNYMIKE
Huh, other than the phrase itself, I'd never heard any of that, is there more to it? It said that was an opening sequence? If there's more, I'd love to know where stuff like that is:D
stingerhs
wow. either somebody really doesn't know english very well, or the Chinese censors just really wanted to have a field day with this one. anyways, for the record, the "All your base are belong to us" was a cheat code on Empire Earth that gave you 100,000 of every resource, which was definate overkill for any match that was longer than 1 hour. heck, use that cheat over and over, you could very quickly epoch up from 0-15 in a matter of minutes. it was mostly dependant on how quickly you could type the phrase. and fortunately, most servers ran without the 'Cheats Enabled' box to prevent abuse of that particular code. as for the source of the phrase, i've known about that for quite a while. interestingly enough, that game was voted one of the 10 worst games of all time on the G4 show "Filter" within the past 2-3 years. now you have even more non-interesting and unimportant trivia that you can ponder over. montnoir
Ok a little info on chinese and chinese translations. The reason it sounds so weird on the previously linked page, is not because the translator was a retard or was goofing around. The chinese "alphabet" is made up of signs who mean different things. One sign can mean tens of things depending of the sentence it is in. What the translator did was to - choose only ONE meaning of the different possibilities - and make a direct translation of that ONE possibility, without thinking of the context, more like a computer program. So, what I am saying is that the signs used in "the backstroke of the west" are the same signs used in "revenge of the dark" depending on the interpretation, you get different results. Nevertheless it was very funny... still laughing...
Prime
Originally posted by REDJOHNNYMIKE Huh, other than the phrase itself, I'd never heard any of that, is there more to it? I can't really remember. The opening cutscene is what is usually referenced. Originally posted by REDJOHNNYMIKE It said that was an opening sequence? Yeah, just the game intro. But all the stuff afterwards about the phrase being everywhere are in most cases legit. It really was posted everywhere at the time. Originally posted by REDJOHNNYMIKE If there's more, I'd love to know where stuff like that is:D I haven't seen much more than the intro in years. I don't know if there is more around. Originally posted by stingerhs that game was voted one of the 10 worst games of all time Yep, Zero Wing was a brutal game. The "All Your Base" thing is the only reason anyone remembers it. Hallucination
Crazy "all your base belong to us" was also a cheat for warcraft 3, and they also used "somebody set us up the bomb" as another cheat.
