DarthDarthRvltn
Hello, I'm about halway through KOTOR, just finished the Leviathan and realized my PC used to be Darth Revan. I'm enjoying the game so far apart from one thing... Can you EVER influence your NPC's alignment? This is the one place where I think the game really fails to deliver on the Dark Side. Part of following the Dark Side is seducing and corrupting others, but no matter what I do, my NOC alignments never change. No matter how I try to tempt them into being selfish, or angry, or downright evil, they remain fixed on their current light/dark status. Even when goading Bastila into being mad at her mother and keeping the Holocron for herself, her alignment never changes. Even when convincing Mission into abandoning her brother, her alignment never changes. Even trying to foster Juhani's hatred of Xor, her alignment never changes. This is a huge failing for the game in my opinion. It makes it feel like the WHOLE dark side mode of play is just a thin, flimsy layer that was placed over the main storyline. If your actions don't have real consequences, it feels really bogus. I taught Bastila Choke/Wound/Kill ad she uses it all the time, but her alignment never shifts. I feel kind of ripped-off by this game because of this; I thought you could really be able to have a character who followed the dark side. The dark side play in KOTOR feels more like flavor tossed in to satisfy people, not a real way to play the game. Anyone else feel this way? Does this change in KOTOR II, or is it planned for in KOTOR III? Thanks!
ChAiNz.2da
yah, this was one of the grievances had by many about the original. It does however change in TSL (one of the requests the Devs listened to )... where you can convert your cNPC Party to either side of the Force. For now however, KotOR doesn't allow you to convert the alignments, however it does make for candid conversations between you and your Party as their reactions will somewhat differ if your alignment tends to clash with their own.. and Welcome to the Forums! Bob Lion54
Yea, all you can do is make them love you or hate you. Thats one thing, at least, they got right with K2. Darth333
Hmmm but I found that in Kotor 2, while their alignment and appearance change, the dialogue remains the same... I wished they had combined the two systems... moving this to the Republic Newsfeed forum
Shirkuh
Agreed, it sucks to have the Handmaiden losing influence for dark side actions when she is almost at the tip of the dark side scale in alignment.
