As I said, Im not against making kids movies. But they should stick to making up stories, or atleast pick old tales that are actually kid friendly to begin with instead of making it so that the prince comes by and wakes up snow white with a kiss (she never woke up if I remember correctly). Cinderella's sisters and mother I think, had their feet chopped off, or something equally bad...

I will give Disney this though, I do find it interesting to see just how bad they screw up the old tales. Id like to see them do the story of Mr Miacca (german tale about a strange little man that abducts children and eats them), or that one tale about the maiden who gets her hands chopped off for some crime, but eventually she grows new ones by crying on the stumps.. heh. You notice that Disney never took stories from Ireland or Russia and made movies out of the mythological/fairy tales?

Anyway enough of that... Serenity starts today!! \o/

hehehehe Anastasia... that movie wasnt even about her, well it was (just barely), but it was fantasy-ized... I thought that was done by the same studio as the Land Before Time and all of its bleh-ish sequels? (I loved land before time, but 4+ sequels?). Anastasia wasnt what I ment when I said mythological/fairytales...

 Why was I not informed of this?

But anyways, back to discussion of new movies, or something atleast semi-related. History of Violence seems to be getting lots of good reviews, I'll probably be checking that out as well.

Damn it.. I was using your Mod Package Mailer Kit to level out my table... I'll be sure to put that in the mail right away... ;)

As far as Disney butchering "History" or even classic novels... they're not the only ones. Ever read Robin Hood?

# When fighting, Robin and his men use swords and bows and arrows, not staffs.

# Maid Marian is absent. She enters the picture through the stories devised for the 16th-century May Games.

# Edward is the only king mentioned. Richard Lionheart is introduced to the tales much later.

# Robin is a yeoman, not a peasant, nobleman or knight.

# There is no mention of Robin being a Saxon taking part in the resistance to the Norman conquerors.

# Robin is not struggling against landlords and the rich, nor is he part of a peasant revolt against the social and economic structure oppressing the people of the time.

# There is little giving to the poor after robbing the rich.

# The famous incident of Robin shooting an arrow to mark his grave is missing. That is, in fact, an 18th-century tale.

# Simply put, he dies.

He went to be bled for his health – a common practice in the Middle Ages. However, the nun betrays Robin and is left to die. Rather un-heroically

Thanks for pointing this out! I hadn't thought about Robin Hood for this discussion.
