Bastila
Just a quick question as some of you out there are good at computers. Ok if you have a windows media file which is a video clip how would you when you burn it (i have Nero burner) be able to make it play on a DVD player, i have DVD blank CD's i just don't know how to get a Windows Media Film to be able to play as a DVD in a DVD player. I hope this makes sense and i hope i put it in the right place.
The Doctor
If I understand your problem then you need a DVD burner. A CD burner burning onto a DVD isn't good enough. It burns it in a CD format, I believe.

The Doctor
Then I don't know what the problem could be. I'll just stand in the corner and hang my head in shame.
Vladimir-Vlada
I don't think that there is any problem. My Windows Media Player is a bit currupted, so I play it on my Power DVD Player. In any case, I think that you'll do fine.

Sabretooth
dunno about DVD, but if you want VCD, ask me. If it's a mpeg file, rename it to .dat and place it in the mpegav folder. Atleast, that's how you make VCDs. Maybe DVDs work the same way?
stingerhs
if you have burning software like Nero, this should be a snap since *.wmv files are a fairly common media file. just load it up and look for DVD burning options. if you don't have Nero, you can check out Download.com for download-able software that'll do the same thing. Astrotoy7
It depends on what format the clip is in. Even if it is mpeg, it may not work if you use the vcd renaming trick at sabre mentioned. it need to being in vcd mpeg format and frame size... as for DVD, mpeg2 is dvd format. It all really depends on what teh quality of the source clip is like. Unless its 712x576(or even 640x480) encoding it to dvd(mpeg2) format wont improve its quality... its probably just quicker/easier to do it to vcd. one of the most populat proggies TMPGEnc, but some people like virtualdub, but it doesnt support some format conversions.... once youve got the format right you can use nero if you like... if you want to create menus etc, thats a bit more tricky, and you'll need software that can handle that. http://www.videohelp.com is an awesome site for all your audio-video capture and convert needs, with guides and linkies galore mtfbwya
