RoxStar Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Quake 4 demo released, some people claim that online play is not available, but it works fine for me. If you "scan for optimal settings" the default settings will insult your computer. I scanned it and it put everything on "low quality" but then I set everything to "high quality" (Ultra is not available in the demo) and i get about 30 fps in singleplayer, 40 in multiplayer. Check it out! http://www.3dgamers.com/games/quake4/downloads/ Better link according to TiE... http://download.filefront.com/43873...895c74bd7b34c62
MarcusLeCoy Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 My computer can't handle those graphics
Jeff Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Excellent! Thanks for the link. Been wanting to try this out. I'll get around to playing it later today...
TiE23 Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Better'er linkszorz: http://download.filefront.com/4387358;4487a3d9cbdf1118837046558870d494e0513439af1216f83b61458f58461d184895c74bd7b34c62 Faster, the other one was maxed out, Filefront is your friend. Downloading now. Edit: Uhhh, it doesn't start up, it just flashes the logo. :'(
Nerd_Annhilator Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 I bought it recently, love it. It looks pretty well the same as Doom 3 graphics wise, yet, somehow manages to perform 3 times better than Doom 3 :/
RoxStar Posted November 28, 2005 Author Posted November 28, 2005 Better'er linkszorz: Edit: Uhhh, it doesn't start up, it just flashes the logo. :'( Is your comp "not up to snuff :p" (I'm kidding, I bow in its greatness) Maybe your download was corrupted? Mine was fine.
90SK Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Yeah, mine won't run it either. I'll try it out when I'm using a more nimble PC. Thanks for posting, though.
TiE23 Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 I just tried it again and it worked. Pretty boring IMO. Enter room, blow guys away, continue. Only FPS I've felt bored playing. It ran fine on high quality, but it still had that plastic-y look that all new FPS have. (exept for HL2)
El Sitherino Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Pretty fun, about the same as Quake II.
Kurgan Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Since my computer ran the Doom3 demo like mollasses, I don't have any hope of running the Q4 demo so I guess I pass for now. Heh... and sounds like I'm not missing much!
BongoBob Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 My computer would slap me for trying to run this on it : |
Kjølen Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 Yes, it's a pretty good game. Not Halo worthy, but I can see it coming close.
El Sitherino Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 I dunno, it doesn't sucks that bad. I mean, it's not original half-life revolutionary gameplay kinda stuff, but it's fun.
