Sithxace
ok distance between 2 planets will determine how long it takes to get to a planet... well why dont they then make the planets all over the place. like for instance have dagobah really far away from the other planets instead right in the mix... like tatooine super far or yavin, and not only will it just make it more realistic starwars-wise and longer to get to the planet, but it will also be used a strategicly such as best place to have a base like in the movies with yavin; because it is super far away and if the imps were to attack it, itll take a long time to get there. Jan Gaarni
They are. It's just that in Star Wars, ships go superfast thru something called Hyperspace, a parallell dimension where speed has no limit.
Sithxace
lol yea, but hyperspacing from a planet closer than a planet further still takes more time too. But in the demo, they really dont seem that differently spaced out.
Athanasios
In the demo the speeds were tuned up. In the final version the planet distances migth be greater. Distances have been changing since the first trailers and also more planets were added.
RC2080
Not to mention that presence of trade routes that make certain inter-planetary paths quicker to traverse..
SRF_Vader
If Jumping to Hyperspace is anything like Warp Speed in Star Trek, its a way of Puncturing a whole in space and time and entering a sub-layer dubbed Subspace where Distance traveled is handled completely different from Normal Space. According to George Lucas, How fast you go in hyperspace doesnt rely on how good your hyperspaceengine is, but how good your navigational system is. Naturally the farther a planet is, not only is there more space to travel, but its more for the Navigational systems to plot through.
