Darth Andrew
Lately, my family's one and only computer has been bombarded with pop-ups and spyware attempting to install everytime we turn the computer on. Ad-Aware SE Personal, Microsoft AntiSpyware, Norton Antivirus 2005, and Spybot-Search and Destroy have been our main forms of protection, and I usually check for updates and perform system scans with them daily. My questions are: Are there any other (preferably free) programs out there that would help against pop-ups, spyware, and viruses? Are some of the programs that I have currently installed ineffective? It would be greatly appreciated if anyone here who knows anything contributed, as the last time I didn't scan my computer for a prolonged period ended in it being debugged by a computer tech store. Det. Bart Lasiter
What web browser do you use? Also, McAfee has a suite of software, that, when working in tandem, works very well against spyware and viruses. You can even completely lock down your computer from the internet when you don't need a connection to it. Plus, if you have Comcast, it's free, no strings attached. TiE23
Firefox, yes. Ever since I switched to it, not a single spyware or virus. Ever! I used to get 50 a week when I used IE primarily.
