toms
Anyone played this game or followed it's community? Its selling dirt cheap at the moment, but i remember the reviews saying it was buggy, unbalanced and a bit repetetive at the end.. ..still, the basic idea seemed really cool.. close to the first Deus Ex. Was wondering if anyone knew if it ever got fixed, or if the fans created any decent extra content/fixes/patches to polish it up into a good game? I think i remember seening something about an unoffical patch.. but can't find anything useful about what it fixes/improves.

Samuel Dravis
Txa had a review of it somewhere...lemme find it: here's the thread. Apparently it's a good buy.
toms
I always thought it sounded cool, but talk of all the bugs and balancing issues (especially the fact that everyone said ranged weapons were kind of pointless, and the end degenerated into a repetative dungeon crawl) put me off in the end. What i need is a review AFTER the patches... to see if they have a significant effect or not. Anyone played it with the patches?
Kensai
The weapon system and most of the overall gameplay was poor. But the storyline reeks with filthy whore greatness. I really enjoyed it needless to say.
TiE23
But the storyline reeks with filthy whore greatness. I think Ebert and Roper used that in their last movie review...
txa1265
The weapon system and most of the overall gameplay was poor. Poor? Calling *anything*, even the ending, of Bloodlines poor is incorrect, in my opinion. But that might have to do more with the breadth of games I've played. I have seen some really good things happening within the VtM community, and while I found the game wonderful and highly playable from the start, everything that has happened since the demise of Troika has helped tweak things further and further. But the basis remains the same - you play a vampire, so the balance is always going to be tricky. And the story has a beginning and end - the first 85% is a wonderfully story driven romp that seethes with environment, and the last 15% is a full-on action slasher/shooter that has you doing battle after battle, with a few puzzles and decisions along the way. It remains a recent fave of mine, and I think that if Valve gave it some proper assistance and the devs had been able to tweak it further, it could have been truly great. acdcfanbill
I would rank this as one of my favorite games, given the bugs, and the fact that Troika went out of business nearly right after it came out, gives it a bit of a bittersweet memory. that aside, with the patches, it plays perfectly, and the varity of clans and skills to use gives it a lot of replay (the malkavian dialogue gets kind of funny ). also, ranged weapons arnt useless, but perhaps just not as useful as bladed weapons due to the nature of guns being semi ineffective against vampires (which includes you of course). toms
Just wanted to say that i was in town yesterday and what did i see: A second hand copy of bloodlines for the bargainous sum of £2.99 ($5.25). So of course i picked it up. Might not get to play it for a while though, as i've got a long list of games to play... dvds to watch... etc..
