Yeah, I know this has probably been done before, but I thought it might stimulate some conversation. List your top ten all time favourite computer games. They don't have to be in any particular order, and if you want, give reasons why you thought they were so great (but it's not compulsory).

Here's mine, in no particular order:

1. Freespace 2

2. Freespace: The Great War

3. Tie Fighter

4. X-Wing Alliance

5. Tex Murphy: The Pandora Directive

6. High Heat Baseball 2002

7. System Shock 2

8. Star Trek TNG: A Final Unity

9. Space Quest (The original)

10. Baldur's Gate II

I thought Freespace 2 had am amazing story line and effects. I liked the fact that you could pick you're own ship and weapons loadout. The Pandora Directive didn't get very good reviews, but I thought it was one of the most immersive plots I had ever played. If you like mysteries, or "whodunnit's" this game is a must! I still have the game and plan on trying it again soon. System Shock 2 was just a good game overall. Scared the spit out of me more than once (and I don't scare easily by GAMES!), and Baldur's Gate II is by far the best RPG I have ever played. The plot, effects, interface, gameplay and everything else about the game is absolutely captivating. I can't wait for the expansion pack to come out June 1st!!

(I'd like to list the original Baldur's Gate as well, but since I can only pick 10 by my own rules, I guess I'm out of luck) wink.gif.

Have fun!

I'm going to have to group some of these:

1. X-wing series

2. Wing Commander series

3. Freespace series

4. Rebel Assault series

5. Starlancer

6. Jedi Knight

7. Doom II

8. Quake

The X-wing series because they're the best space combat sims ever. The Wing Commander series for great story. The Freespace series for sort of a combination of the X-wing and Wing Commander string points. The Rebel Assault series just because they're good for an hour of easy fun. Starlancer pretty much for the same reasons as Freespace. Jedi Knight, because it made me feel like I was really in the Star Wards universe. Plus, the level design was great. Doom II because it was the first game to really blow me away. Quake because I had a lot of fun with it in single player. I stopped at 8 since I sort of cheated a little by lumping so may together smile.gif

Elite Force, well I just got it and Loving it. Iv'e played more time playing FreeSpace2 than any other game, it's got the best re-play factor ever. Alpha Centauri, just one more turn, then I find out that the sun rose three hours ago, and I've late for school. CFS is just addictive. PD is just PD, doesn't get much better biggrin.gif. Avp is quite possibly the Scariest game EVA! TaW simply for it's realism, and I like F22's. UT, online bliss. X-Wing Alliance? Why do you think I'm here, don't play it very often though and CivII has kept me going for months and months and Months...

Sure do, best games ever, twas the time when games were fun.

Want retro?

Let's see, I could drag out all my ColecoVision and Atari 2600 games (yeah, I still have them. And YES, I know I'm pathetic) and figure out which ones I played to death back then!

Hmm... Zaxxon, Missle Command, Adventure, Donkey Kong, River Raid, Asteroids, Pitfall,...

No, I can't do it! Too many faves to pick any kind of coherent list.

Fave games for PC:

1. Freespace 2 (Although I'm as annoyed with that ending as I am with XWA's)

2. XWA

3. XVT (Balance of Power)

4. Rogue Squadron

5. Dark Forces (or as a friend of mine calls it: "Dork Farces"... I don't know why, he just does)

6. Tempest (A throwback to my old arcade days)

7. Dragon's Lair (Ditto. Perhaps my favorite game of all time, even though I can win it on the first try in my sleep these days)

8. Tie Fighter

9. X-Wing

10. Pong (Yes that Pong. Next stop: Nostalgia City!)

Yeah, ya' gotta luv Pong! The great, GREAT Granddaddy of 'em all!

I'm slightly embarassed to say it, but after all these years I still lose as much as I win when playing it against the computer.

How un-cool is that?

Freespace 2 went from really cool to incredibly, nauseatingly stupid for me in one mission. The mission where you find out there are dozens of Juggernauts. It was so lame I gave up the game for nearly half a year before finishing it. Most of the game was excellent though.

My favorite games in order:

Unreal Tournament

Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike

XWA

Jedi Knight

Grandia II

Chrono Trigger

Tie Fighter

Dark Forces

FF III

Baldur's Gate II

Posted

1. Freespace 2

2. TIE Fighter

3. Freespace: The Great War (NOT Silent Threat)

4. XWA

5. Sonic 2

6. Sonic the Hedgehog

7. Alex Kidd

8. Zone of the Enders

9. Settlers II

10. Sim City 2000

Freespace 2 - Brilliantly done, high replayability, but most of all, it's insanely easy to edit. I'm in the middle of developing a large-scale MOD/Campaign, complete with boatloads of new weapons, modified ships, complex scripted 'cutscene' type missions in place of actual movies, and a lot of other things I could never have done with the X-Wing series or any other space combat sim.

TIE Fighter - I think we all know the reason for this. Die, Rebel Scum!

Freespace - Mostly the same as FS2. Great story. Silent Threat sucked, unfortunately.

XWA - I'd hardly be here otherwise, would I?

Sonic/Sonic 2 - True gaming classics. Nothing is more fun than plugging in my old Mega Drive and blasting my way around Scrap Metal and Casino Night. 3 and Knuckles weren't anywhere near as good.

Alex Kidd - I've always had a soft spot for this - It introduced me to gaming. I never managed to complete it though. smile.gif

Zone of the Enders - Slashing giant robots to pieces never gets boring.

Settlers II - Good, Old-fashioned native-stomping fun.

Sim City 2000 - Arcologies. 'Nuff Said.

------------------

And what of the Director's Lenses?

The logs show they fled the scene in a shuttle. That is all the information we have sir, there is a high probability that the shuttle was destroyed in the battle.

A shame.....but we'll buy George Lucas another pair of glasses.<font size="-2" color="#414141">

WTF? That mission (Into the Lions Den)has to be one of the best mission in the game. It was so easy and fun, it was in my 'Favorate mission' lists.
