Or as the true Cubs fans always say before the end of May, "Wait 'til next year."

I didn't want to say it. But, since you did,

Look out jimbo, you're within striking range. flamthro

Oh, by the way, Happy Anniversary guys!

May you have many, many more. :)

As one WGN sportscaster said, if Dusty wasn't Dusty Baker, he'd be fired by now for the horrendous performance over the last 2 weeks. Here's a Clue, Dusty--if it didn't work the first 8 times, it's not going to work on time 11 or 14, either....It's time to try something different, unless we're deciding in May that we want to be so bad that we earn the #1 draft pick. Ugh.

You mean, he was in striking range.... (Jae gives an evil cackle....)

Thank you! He'll make it to 17 in spite of his delusions of Cardinal grandeur. Or my delusions of Cub grandeur. I'm not sure which anymore. :D

@JAE. OOOOOHHHH!! That D@MN Derrick Lee! GRUUNNNNPH!

Dan Kolb should be sent straight to the minors for that effort.

...meatball right down the middle, as if on a tee. To Derrick of all people.

"Here Derrick, you've been away for a while. How about enjoying a nice, game tying, two run homer?" :headbump

Oh well, another shot tonite. We'll see what Dougie can do. I do love Wrigley field though. I've seen a few games there and it really doesn't get much better. Awesome time. Definately need a designated for that.

Why is everyone hatin' on Dusty. He's not the one taking the mound nor do I ever see Dusty in the batter's box. It's not his fault the guys are strugglin'.

Hope they work out of it, but not too soon.

@Commander PIRATES?!? UUUUUGGGH!! They absolutely detroyed the Brewers last time.

I can't disscuss them any further, lest I be banned! :Pir1:

@Jae, Sorry, I was just curious.

Well, if we win 5 and Cards lose 5, we'll be back in single digits out of first place in our division. :)

Yeah, Wrigley's great. Fabulous atmosphere. We usually drive down either to Waukegan (a lot more trains stop there later so the schedule is more flexible) or Evanston. If we go to Waukegan, we get on the Metra, get off in Evanston, and take the L down to Wrigley. If we drive to Evanston, we park in a nearby parking garage and hop on the L there. Then there's not so much of a parking issue, and less driving issues. ;)

I love it when the ivy turns color in the fall--gorgeous, except I think we're going to be well out of the race before we get a chance to see that this year.

I know Dusty's not the one in the box or on the mound, but he's the guy who decides who is there. I'm not knocking Dusty at all--I think his hands are tied by the guys he has to work with and all the injury problems, and quite possibly the front office. I can't believe they're playing this awful when they have some decent players and pitchers. Poor Ron Santo is just beside himself. I hope they start winning before they give the guy a heart attack.

I feel for ya. ...kinda. :giggle1:

Take any team, even Jimbo's beloved Cards and start the season without the #1 and #2 aces.

Then, take away the #1 run producer on the team and see where they go.

(OK, maybe the Cards have a couple more guys to lean on but, they still would be depleted and the bullpen over-worked.)

Cubbies were bitten hard with the injury bug's incisors this year. But, guys like Pierre and Perez still haven't given up.

The Brewers are trying to breathe some life into a cadaver of an offense with some really young and talented but severely unexperienced players while Lee and Jenkins have been playing good support roles for the noobs.

But the pitching, OH!! the pitching...

Woohoo! Zambrano gets to go to the All-Star game!

And even better--he hit a 2-run homer in the first against the White Sox today to put them up 7-2 in just the first inning.

Finally, some offense--winning 15-11 today. Hopefully, they'll keep the offense up from now on. Hey, I need to hold on to my dreams, eh? :D
