sc214 Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 ok, heres the problem, I insert the cd into my dvd drive, the auto won't work. i then manually acses the drive folder and select "setup". it pulls up the picture of the ebon hawk, the little meter fully loads and the program closes. an error message appears, saying "problem on instalation. contact tech. support." I have tried moving the cd into my other drive, same problem. however, i sucsesfully loaded the game onto my laptop. no errors on insalation. but the reqirements are too high to run on my lappy. but still the disc is fine. i can also currently run KotOR II on my desktop perfectly fine. here are my specs -win. xp PRO sp2 -dell dimension 2350 -512 mb ram -180 gb hard drive (120 free) -raedon 9250 256mb ATI card by the way, all Games are Original Copies. bought from stores.
stingerhs Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 hmm, do you get any kind of an error code whenever the problem occurs??
Prime Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 If you do a CTRL-ALT-DEL and check the processes, do you see something like swkotor running?
sc214 Posted April 3, 2006 Author Posted April 3, 2006 no, no error code, just says "program encoutered and error and cant procced. please contact tech. support." and, nope, no processes running either. oh btw... it is a 1.8ghz P4 processer
Reclaimer Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Make sure KOTOR was not installed on, then never removed. Check in your Add/Remove Programs list for anything KOTOR 1 related.
sc214 Posted April 4, 2006 Author Posted April 4, 2006 ok, there is a file for kotor there, but it is impartial, something like 6.57 mb. im going to have windows search for files while i manually browse for some.
Reclaimer Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Yeah, do a serach and remove any and all files for KOTOR, then re-install.
sc214 Posted April 4, 2006 Author Posted April 4, 2006 ahhh..... well, i cant find any files... browsing of with the windows search.

SITHSLAYER133 Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 ok if that dosnt work what you can do is edit your regristy files for Kotor but becarful cause if you delete the wrong thing you could make windows unable to load on next boot
Det. Bart Lasiter Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 ok if that dosnt work what you can do is edit your regristy files for Kotor but becarful cause if you delete the wrong thing you could make windows unable to load on next boot To do that, go to Start->Run->type "regedit". KotOR would be listed under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE->BioWare. KotOR II would be listed under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE->LucasArts. I doubt they're there though, this sounds like an InstallShield error.
sc214 Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 ok i see it, but do i want to remove the entire bioware folder, or just the swkotor folder. update: ok i went ahead and deleted bioware. lets hope this works.
Det. Bart Lasiter Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 If you have another BioWare game then only remove the swkotor entry. Otherwise you might as well delete the whole thing. Also, you'll need to be logged in as an administrator to do this.
sc214 Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 ok, i just inserted the cd, and the auto-run worked, however i still get the error message.
