External HDD

I was curious about what kind of external hard drives you guys recommend. I was browsing around and found a name that I was unfamiliar with....Beyond Micro. TigerDirect has their 250 GB drive for $105 and all of the customer reviews have been really positive. Any thoughts?

The only complaints I'd have about it would be the moderately-high power usage and the average buffer size (for an external HD a higher buffer size if preferable due to the lower transfer rates/increased latency). But that HD would perform at just below the level of the average internal HD, so it would be a good choice for file storage and things like that :)

Well, I do already have an 80 gig and a 30 gig Western Digital in my case. The reason I want an external is for backup purposes...not necessarily for portability. I was also contemplating the LaCie Brick. Its that funky Lego design external drive.
