Howdy everybody, it's me again and again I need help with PC parts :p

Ok, I'm getting these:

Processor: Athlon 64 3200+ Socket 939

Video Card: RADEON X1300PRO 256MB or RADEON X1600XT 256MB

RAM: 1GB (2x512) Kingston

Ok, my problem is I don't know what motherboard to get, I was thinking about getting an ASUS A8N-E but I keep hearing of incompatibility issues between the ASUS boards and RADEONs so now I'm lost.

Please give me a help in picking a motherboard that costs 150 dollars max and can handle the parts mentioned above plus a DVD-ROM, a disk drive and 2 HDs.

I have an Asus board. Couldn't be happier with it. I had a Radeon 9200 before I upgraded to a different video. Anyways, I never had any issues with the video card. As for the newer ones, I would look at the ATI site and see if they have any docs on it.

As for the various drives, just make sure you have a good enough power supply to run them and any sound and video cards you have.

Yeah, make sure you get a good psu to run everything.

As for that mobo, I believe it's an nForce 4 board, which means it uses nVidia technology. AFAIK, the only problem you would have is if you used 2 cards in Crossfire, which won't work on it without a nasty hack.

I'd look on the mobo companies forums too.

the X1300 and the X1600 suck. u mine aswell get an nvidia 6800gs...

how about the Sapphire PURE Crossfire PC-A9RD480 or the ASUS A8R32-MVP Deluxe...i'd prolly go for the asus IMO.

...they don't exactly suck, although I agree with you in terms of nVidia being a better choice in terms of graphics cards.

Anyways, I'd recommend that you go with an nVidia card in case you want to switch to a dual card platform later. The CrossFire motherboards on the market now suck compared to the nForce4 motherboards nVidia's putting out.

Well the problem is that I live in Brazil, and here we can't really pick preciselly what we want. If we're too specific we simply don't find the parts...

I have to get one of those, I couldn't find the GeForce 7600GT and it was the one I was after.

Now onto the motherboard issue, I'm not going to get a CrossFire or SLI cuz it's too expensive for me. And if I was I would have to get a CrossFire cuz I can't find good GeForces here.

I'll look on the ATI and the ASUS site for docs on incompatibility between them. meanwhile if anyone else knows of any good motherboard for that I'll be happy to hear your oppinions :)

Oh and by the way I already plan on getting a new Power Supply with a 24-pin connector and 450W or more.

Just to be sure, that machine used all those RADEONs in an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium right?

If so the X1600XT should work with the A8N-E too right? Or any version of the A8N correct?

Yes, I'm fairly sure that it will work with the A8N-E (I just looked at it, I assumed it was an nForce4 SLI, but it's an nForce4 Ultra). The only time I've seen issues arise from using an ATi card with an nVidia chipset have been when one tries to implement an SLI system with a CrossFire board and visa versa.

I see.

Well thanks a lot for your help jmac. Now I'll see if I get the X1600PRO or the XT or if I can't afford those I'll see if I can get the X1300PRO.

what are u doing with those? games? movies? what? cuz the x800 series is better then the X1k (except the x1900XT(X))...

i hate ati now, they're discontinuing there x800 series but the x1k series just goes from mainstream to high-end without anything in between...just the x1300 and x1600 as the mainstream and the x1900 as the high-end...

No, no...

600 in my cash.

The best prices are in newegg if you ask me :p

And besides, I can't get the 7600 cuz my monitor is kinda old and I don't see an entrance for it. My monitors connector looks like this: /___\ and the ones in the 7600 are like |_____|....| or something like it lol I don't know the names <_<

I'm getting the X1600XT 256MB GDDR3/128bit.

The blue is VGA interface while the white is DVI which can only be used for LCDs, but video cards that feature Dual DVI should have by default a DVI to VGA adapter for standard CRT monitors.

yes, they come with an adapter. unless otherwise stated. there should be a picture of the adapter on the box or check the "Whats in Box" or something. usually if the graphics card supports dual monitors it should come with an adapter...

Ah so they come with an adapter? You sure?

Cuz if you are I might try checking around the price for the 7600 again...

In the first place I was going after the 7600 I don't know which version to get tho.

The Geforce 7600 GS is the slower variant with lower clock speeds and DDR2, but everything else stays the same with the 7600 GT while it is the fastest of the two cards. You will get one or two adapters, but mostly two with the video card aswell.

Well, I managed to find the 7600GT for 126,00 more then the X1600XT in my currency.

The question is, is it worth it? I mean is the 7600GT much better then the X1600XT?

If needed I can post links of the parts here so you guys could tell me.

It is overall and infact the X1800GTO is the competition to 7600 GT more so then the X1600 XT is or so it would seem.
