Mace MacLeod
More stuff that annoyed me: 1) Okay, if the cure thing turns out to be only temporary, then yeah, the whole plot of the movie was pretty much redundant. 2) Mystique was totally screwed over. One of the best, most complicated characters just gets dumped. No exploration of why she stuck so close to Magneto. Done. See ya. 3) Juggernaut's stupid catchphrase "I'm the Juggernaut, b!tch!" ...why? 4) I thought they were going to give Angel more to do than just a couple of fly-bys. 5) The design of Xavier on his headstone looks more like Julius Caesar than Dr. X. 6) Patrick Stewart played Dr. X with all the charisma this time of Captain Picard meets Mr. Rogers. 7) I'm now fairly certain my daughter has a crush on Angel. If she goes to the mall and returns with a poster of him, it'll be case closed.
Bob Lion54
3) Juggernaut's stupid catchphrase "I'm the Juggernaut, b!tch!" ...why? Basically, some people took a scene from the old cartoon and overdubed it. They gave all the characters dumb voices and changed the dialogue to be funny. That was one of the lines they gave Juggernaut. I guess the writers (or Ratner) saw the clip and thought it was funny so they put it in the movie. Its sort of an "inside joke." Anyway, I saw the movie yesterday. It was good, but not spectacular. It could have used more character development. Considering the problems they had getting this movie made, I'd say it came out pretty well. Ratner did an amazing job will everything considered. (Singer left to do Superman and took half his crew, Halle Berry wanting a bigger role, not that great of a script.) Speaking of the script, it had several problems getting off the ground too. They had to rewrite it multiple times. I heard a rumor (and take it as you will) that early on it had Gambit in it but the actor they wanted wasn't available. Instead of recasting, they just wrote Gambit out. Over all, it was a good movie that could have been great. I hope Pirates of the Caribbean dosn't dissapoint. abcd1234
I am sure that we will see Gambit in the next movie in the X-Men line. He is too popular of a character for them to continue to leave out of the movie franchise.
MdKnightR
Well, I think a lot of you guys are being overly critical of the movie. I am an X-men fan from way back (early 80s) and I loved the movie even though it does deviate from the comic story (but then again so do the prior 2 offerings). The only thing that I didn't like about it was... that scene where Magneto sets the Golden Gate Bridge down on Alcatraz when it is still daylight and then a moment later the sky is as black as midnight. Did I miss something there?
lukeiamyourdad
The sun was setting when he marched on the bridge. Apparently, going from sunset to pitch black in San Francisco is a matter of minutes By the way, the Juggernaut line was funny. It was going to be Josh Holloway but he refused to do it since the character was too similar to his character in Lost. Then he's an ass. I mean, Gambit is...Gambit has been around for a long time...so what if the character is too similar to the one in Lost? He should've known that before he accepted...and then dropped out... He may not have already accepted and they were just hoping for him to do it and he said no when it was too much like his character in Lost, which means they should have recast the character instead of writing Gambit out of the movie. mimic666
Gambit is french so he's a "slick playa" or at least that's what he thinks. I always liked Gambit because he could charge up a deck of cards with chi energy and kill people with them., and when he wasn't doing that he was beating the @@@@ out of people with his Bo staff. Another thing Isn't Juggernaut Professor X's brother?
Bob Lion54
Gambit is french.... Er.....no hes not. Gambit is Cajun. Last I checked New Orleans is a good walk (and swim) from France.
LordReserei
I haven't seen this film yet. It looks cool, got more or less the same cast, different director, follows on from X1 and X2...I dunno, I loved X-Men, didn't like X-Men II that much. what other films has the director of X-Men III done? lukeiamyourdad
Yeah, people mistake his accent for a french one. The french Cajun accent is weird (not in a bad way mind you) and impossible to imitate. By the way, they speak flawless english so I don't understand how he keeps putting french words in his sentences...

Perhaps he does this to sound more impressive... with both the Ladies (namely Rogue) and the men.

By the way, they speak flawless english so I don't understand how he keeps putting french words in his sentences... I don't know where you get the idea that Cajuns speak "flawless" English. Some of their pronunciations defy that statement. I dated a Cajun girl that had tried her best to kick the accent (and did a really good job of it) but if you teased her into reverting, it was very hard for her to get back to speaking "flawless" English. By the way, the Cajun accent isn't impossible to imitate. The "Cajun Cook" Justin Wilson wasn't really Cajun, but he had the world believing he was. Bob Lion54
By the way, they speak flawless english so I don't understand how he keeps putting french words in his sentences... Its because there are a lot of French words that are still quite common in Louisiana, even if they are not too common in the rest of the US. Esecially in certain areas around New Orleans (though there are Cajuns all over the state). It kind of like the local dialect.
lukeiamyourdad
I've heard a lot of interviews involving french people from Lousiana. Accent and flawless english are two different things. Hell, if accent was so important, every american speaks crappy english because they don't have the right accent (same for every one who doesn't have an english accent). I never said that they didn't have an accent, simply that they didn't put french words here and there in their sentences. At least, from what I heard, but it seems Bob is in a better placed to know about that then I am soooooo >_> I think mimic hit it quite on the nail. It was just to sound more impressive. By the way, when I said that the accent was impossible to imitate, it means really hard to imitate. Poor choice of words on my part. The same can be said about my "accent québécois" Not impossible to imitate, but damn hard.
LordReserei
Hell, if accent was so important, every american speaks crappy english because they don't have the right accent every one who doesn't have an english accent). God, thank you "lukeiamyourdad". I've been born and bread in England and that's my view. although I don't agree that much with this... (same for who doesn't have an english accent). Define or desribe an "English" accent, do you mean the Queen's Engish. because there are many accents in England. I'm from "Nottingham" so I have "Nottingham" accent, some one from "London" can have a "London" or "Cockney" accent and so on. from "England", born and raised in "England", different part, different accent. By the way, if I sound mad or angry @ the previous quote don't worry I'm not

Bob Lion54
Well, Gambit is a stereotype. His accent is supposed to be much stronger that the typical Cajun that one would find in Louisiana today. There are some older people around that have the "Gambit accent" but really, the strongest accent you're likely to hear is Jake Delhomme's (QB for the Panthers). Actually, this guy is a good example of the Cajun accent you are likely to hear nowadays. Clicky He is reading from a childrens book he wrote, so he is playing up his accent a bit, but I do know a few people that sound like that.
