RE: Star Wars syndicated TV series...

Recommended Posts

Hey all you Sith lords and Jedi scum! :dmaul3:

Have you guys heard the rumor that there will indeed be a George Lucas TV series heading to a galaxy not so far, far away ? Supposedly the Star Wars series will take place in the canonical Lucas time line between Episode's II and III, and will feature a coming-of-age story about everyone's favorite cloned inter-galactic bounty hunter, Boba Fett!

Anybody else got more info to share? Bueller...Bueller...Bueller...Anyone?

I got sick to my stomach when they made Boba Fett into a kid. Chances are I will not be seeing the TV Series. I am getting tired of Star Wars milking me for money. I will by the OT movie set in September, but I will not be watching a TV Series based upon Star Wars. I am making KotOR 3 my last purchase if it will ever be slated for production. Besides that, I think the series is destined for disaster.

I guess we will have to wait and see.

The TV show won't milk us for any money, unless we buy products from the show's sponsors. :)

It's going to be extremely difficult to translate something meant for the big screen down to TV--special effects are very expensive to produce, and I don't know that they'll be the same quality as a result, though I imagine they will recycle some effects from the movie.

Sheesh!

I guess I just figured there were more Star Wars fans here, on a Star Wars site! What makes you think that Lucas can't produce a TV series with decent special effects? The last time I checked, NO ONE has EVER produced better special effects than Lucas! OK, if you guys are gonna start bashing me over the head with lame series effects from other shows (Dr. Who, Star Trek, Babylon 5, BSG, Star-Gate, etc...) PLEASE, make it good! The shows I just mentioned can't measure up to Star Wars in either visual effects OR story!

And if I hear anybody try and tell me different, I'll kindly direct you to the NUMBERS (as in number of fans, box office numbers) - since WE ALL KNOW that they NEVER lie!

Also, if I hear ANYBODY try and demand that ANY of the programs I listed (and the one's I didn't!) are BETTER fiction than Star Wars, I'll puke and politely ask you to do some research on the impact Star Wars has had on our society - I am sure that if you are truly objective (and not just trying to berate me personally), you will indeed find that the best of these, Star Trek, is a VERY, VERY distant second to the 1 and only Star Wars!

Now, I know that ALOT of you THINK that you truly know it all, and as such can't wait to try and pick my post apart and basically attack me personally - all you'd have to do is ask 10 people that you don't already know (as in, not members of your little 'clique' of fellow KNOW IT ALLS!) what they think on this subject, and I'm sure that if you are honest about it, you'd have to acknowledge my point here.

That being said, I know for a fact that those of you I'm referring to as obnoxious KNOW IT ALLS, will indeed be the first to jump all over what I just posted - and prove my point about your personality traits and narrow minds. So PLEASE, have at it and jump right into that nice-fitting shoe I laid out for ya!

If you ask me, Star Wars are the best even without flashy and expensive special effects. And it is true that the other famous Sci-Fi series aren't that good in story either. Take ST as an example, the ST has really not that good story but it compensates it with technical marvels. Now, where in SW did you hear about a Type4 Mark17 Pulse Proton Torpedo? :gun7:

Thanks for the correction, and for your concern, Doc! However, I did not single anybody out, if a person feels that this applies to them, so be it! I didn't break any rules, although I'm certain some HATER will be along any moment to berate my opinion and say otherwise!

Whatever.

Why don't we all just kick back and see how good my pre-cognitive powers of speculation as they pertain to the nature of some of the folks around here really are!

@DarthDeceptus - Ah! One other voice of sensibility and true reason! Be careful though! Agreeing with me might get you stigmatized as a fellow insurrectionist, and thus you will forever be labeled as an 'outsider' around here! Though judging by your powers of honesty and reason - and your career choice as a smuggler - tells me that, much like me, you coldn't care less about that stuff!

Hey, it's nice to meet you, man!

BTW, I'm in the market for some new and improved 'spice'! How's that Nar Shadaa brand workin' out for ya? Hook a brotha up! <LOL!>

Hey, I'm a big fan--saw 5, 6, 1, and 2 on release days because I just couldn't stand to wait any longer, and 3 the next day (hubby and I had to watch kids for each other. I drew the short straw so he got to go release day). The lines were too long for me to see 4 on release day, and I had to wait for my dad to drive us kids anyway. I have the toys, posters, cards, books, etc, just like anyone else.

I know how I felt watching the movies on the big screen vs. seeing them on DVD on TV--the experience is just not the same. I also recall the difference in visual and special effects and story between Battlestar Galactica the movie and Battlestar Galactica the TV show (the Lorne Greene version, not the Edward James Olmos version). You just can't reproduce that same 'big screen' feeling, that feeling that you're right there in the middle of the space battle or asteroid field, or taking that jump to hyperspace, when you see it on TV. The screenplays for TV can be good, but when you only have several weeks or less to produce a one hour story and you have months to create a 2 hour story, the quality is very different. They typically only have a week or so to act for a one-hour show, and the cast on the movies had about 6-8 weeks or thereabouts to do a 1.5-2 hour movie.

While more time to write/act/produce/edit does not always equate to better quality, the probability is higher that the longer you have to work on it, the better it will be.

If they can produce something decent for TV, great, but I'm reserving judgment. I just prefer not to see the SW universe marred by crappy TV episodes.

You are correct. :laugh6:

That's not going to happen. Although these series will be focused on and will deal on interactions between the characters, they will deal in the expanded universe, and will give much more new inventions and things we didn't saw yet to life. Personaly, I can't wait to see it.

Well now!

What do we have hya?

Of course Star Wars won't be a let-down! No matter how much of a load it turns out to be, it'll still be light years ahead of anything else on TV!

Seems to me that DarthDeceptus and the great man that started this thread...what's his name? Oh yeah! DarthMaul v.1/2, are the only two replying here that are reasonable!
