ZerooftheFour
im just wondering what comands would be needed to get a good realistic saber effect, when i play ojp on my own,its sorta like a hold mouse one and two noobfest, and im not sure how would i get a more real effect so that you have to conserve bp and it takes some knowledge and skill to fight, all in all the mod is great for co op and such, but i dont understand the point in a FFA, can i get some commands to maybe give a better version of a good saber system? Have you read the saber system manual? That will tell you most of what you need to know on how to conserve DP. Parrying reduces the amount of DP used in a hit greatly. It use to not cost any DP, but we changed it and several other things because enough damage wasn't being done and fights were too long. Also, there are a few things different in the saber manual from the new code that's at the freepository. If your playing using that code, go to the code server thread to see what changes have been made. hold mouse one and two noobfest Whoa, wait a minute. Your are using 0.0.9a or b right? This comment sounds like the gameplay of 0.0.7. Although, if you are using the new code, I can think you might be talking about the new attack fake. I agree its a little spamy, but against a human opponent, its a bit harder to use because they can anticipate and swing at most of them. Although I would agree that the attack fake needs a little modification.

UDM
Nice config vruki! I used to bind jump to RMB in my deathmatch games like Quake, but in games where secondary fire is important, I can't =\

UDM
Yeah I had a 5 button mouse too, but that was really old school, so I doubt that'd work too. Nevertheless, having 5 buttons to play with is really cool! I really hate jumping with spacebar lol

Maxstate
What you're experiencing, zero, is what most former mb players (!) experience when they play OJP, I believe. I think you're saying that the system seems random, a click-and-spam fest, Im not going to argue with you there, it did for me as well. There are a couple of things players need to do and know before they start developing saber skills in OJP, I' ll list them. Not to boast, but I've seen a fair share of swordplay systems in the few years I've been playing games that involve it, I've even written 2 guides on one of them, if any of you ever feel like they would like to learn, train or spar with me, you can always leave a pm. Though there's a 3 week waiting list Im in the middle of moving and this may be my final days with my current internet connection. Now, not to steer completely away from what I said, here come the tips: -Forget everything you've learned; saber combat is not Slash-block-slash-block-slash-block, it never was. In ojp, saber combat requires not only reflexes, but a strategic mind and quick wits as well. You will find that the system, -altough not intentionally-, is very true to the "7 forms of lightsaber combat". For example,a lot of new slash-blockers will try to block everything you throw at them, which most of the time will work, but will have them fall into the vicious circle called Soresu. You WILL be able to defend yourself throughout the duration of the duel but you WILL NOT have enough dp nor fp to counter your opponent or to fight back. There is no "Block button", I too have woed for this fact untill it hit me; we dont need one! Let me tell you how I see it, and it may help you: My movement buttons are my blocking buttons, blocking and parrying requires active thinking to work, Im always fully concentrated when doing it. But, I never ever forget that ONLY blocking just doesn't work if you want to be the victor. I combine attack and defense into one mix; I attack my opponent and read his moves, I change my own attacks, movement and position to perfectly mirror his which results in me blocking him. -Parrying/blocking requires you to move into your opponents slash: *from a 3rd person view* . If your enemies saber hits your head, from the left, you move backwards and left diagonally. . If your enemies saber hits you in the leg, from the left, you move forwards and left diagonally. .If your enemies saber hits your side, from the left, you move left. The same goes with attacks to your right side, just switch " left" with "right". -There are 3 ways of parrying/blocking an attack. It could be helpful to identify your style using the 7 forms, because it usually helps you to find a parrying method to suit your fighting style. ::You can move your saber infront of your enemies using a fake (tap yourmouse button) ::You can move your saber infront of your enemies using a slash ::you can use the movement blocking technique above ::In 010 you can also combine movement and fakes/slashes into one parry called an attack parry. You parry like explained in @ the movement blocking section, but you also fake in the second the saber hits your body. I personally use this even in 009. -Special attacks. Special attacks are there for a reason, so are acrobatics, use them. Lunge, DFA, cartwheels, wallruns, force powers, they can determine the end of any battle. For example using a lunge or dfa on a bounced person can decimate his dp if done correctly. I especially love the DFA because it opens up new back whack attacks which *I think* drain more dp damage. Any other questions? Ill be right here. Enjoy.

JRHockney*
in general what time do u guys play OJP? It really depends. Me, Jack, Razor, and Cariss often play at night but maxstate and menion and a few others usually play in the morning (probably the night for them). It varies. The best things you can do to make sure other players are around are to PM other players and get their IM's or just use the scheduling thread. Btw, I now have MSN messenger for those of you who want My address, just PM me. I will be gone for two weeks after tomarrow just to let you know. Maxstate
DUDES GREAT NEWS ZOMGAWT. JKA and OJP do not require registry keys to play! In leymans terms, that means I can play it by having the folder on my computer. Long story short, I had to re-install windows because my old one was .. compromised. Resulted in having every program I installed still on my pc but without it being connected by the registry, I knew it was going to happen but I had a "I cant care less" attitude then. I thought I could just burn all my **** to cd before I reformat and install a better version of Windows, well now whenever I try to burn anything it just stops at 6%, just stops working. Though Im not stressing, Im thinking of hooking my burner to a different computer to burn the windows cd and I could always hook up my hard drive to the same computer to burn important files. Sorry for the incoherent rant, up to more pressing matters. Im still moving, though my parents have (as I mentioned) left me at our old house since I have some unfinished business left here. Im leaving saturday and its going to take awhile before I can get playing again, different ISP and all (This is a great time to finally get started with the MB DoS that was planned kekeke). If anyone wants to play, tell me now, Im going to be up all night.

Yeah, its exactly eleven o' clock. ****ty thing is, bob just told me that the euro OJP server is down because someone decided it would be a good thing to shut down the server pc. It'll be up by tomorrow I hope, I dont know if there are any other servers left?
