KotOR I Trailer? - What the???

Yeah, I agree. Especially the last part where Malak exits a shuttle escorted by two Sith Troopers.

EDIT:Which I may add, it's not on the game.

Much of what is shown in that trailer isn't in the game. Often when making trailers they stage some scenes for them to look cool, and then mix it all up to the point where the story in the game is unrecognizable in the trailers. Promotion movies and screenshots often go for making things look flashy and appealing rather than entirely realistic to what can be encountered in the game they advertise.

That trailer is fairly old as well, so it's possible it contains some things that has been changed or re-made before the game was released. :)

Is that the Xbox user interface we see on some screens or did they change it altogether? I've never played the xbox version.

Nope, the interface looks about the same on the Xbox version. But since a lot of the stuff in the trailer looks to be stuff from KotOR's alpha-testing phase, it's not too surprising the interface would look different.

Another instance of that is in this trailer.(It looks about as old as the one Mac posted) If you pause it at 00:58 the interface for the combat looks very different.

A lot looks to have been changed. Two of those areas (three if you count the Dantooine turret mini-game ) aren't in KotOR at all, and even for a trailer the NPCs are in odd places. Sith troops on Dantooine definitely wasn't in the final game. (Though perhaps that was part of how you were initially supposed to go there during/after the attack)

It's a kewl trailer, but not too unique as far as they go. The game looks much more fast-paced and action-y than it is.

This trailer was released back in 2002 on Quicktime. I downloaded at lucasarts.com on May 22, 2002 (I just checked the date). The game was released 14 months later. That should be enough time to make changes. ;)

They probably purposely did that to make it more appealing to the people who hate turn based combat. I have a few friends like that.

To be honest, the game looks better in that trailer than it does in the actual game. The fight with the dark JEdi on Kashyyyk for some odd reason looked kinda better even though the moves arent as good or flashy combat wise, but at least it looks like an actual lightsaber duel, but maybe that's just cuz I've seen the same animations during combat over and over again, but even the sounds (if you listen, the lightsabers sounds and the turret sounds are from the original trilogy instead of Bioware's sounds they used for the game) But like I said, maybe the only reason I liked the trailer content better is cuz its different than the same KOTOR content I've seen so often. Plus there were a few very interesting things, such as Malak walking out of the shuttle on Taris, the guy walking over to the co-pilot seat in the cockpit, and the Ebon Hawk being chased over Dantooine

Also, have you noticed that a Trailer for KOTOR is in the TSL part of the Forum? Anyway, I liked seeing Malak walk out of his shuttle on Taris and I wished it stayed in the game. My guess was that BioWare were currently making it and adding changes into the game.

Well, that UI does look sort of cool.

I think that there could be two reasons why Bioware cut down so much content from the game:

* LucasArts.

* They were starting to think that the game was getting two long. I thought KotOR was a rather great game, with complete voice-acting and relatively polished development that offered 40+ hours of gameplay. Maybe Bioware figured that was too long and so they cut out the content. Maybe after that they realised that "the longer, the better", so they gave the whole 70+ hours thing to Mass Effect.

Well, that's how trailers go, isn't it?
