Commander Obi-Wan
He threw a CG yesterday. I noticed. And the Blues Jays have won three consecutive games as well.

Cygnus Q'ol
My poor Cardinals have no starting pitching this year. Oh well, wait til Carpenter comes back...next year around September. The Cards are by no means out of this thing. Yeah, the Cubbies are hot right now, but my Brewers are slumpin' and the Cardinals are only a couple a games back. Brewer's pitching staff, mainly the bullpen has been exposed. Benny's hurt, Suppan never panned out this season and Cappy, our only lefty starter, can't find the zone. It's not too promising when your best pitcher is a rookie. If the Cardinals can find a way to win a few series between now and September, they'll be in the thick of the hunt for the division. Where'd the Yankees come from? I thought they were dead.

Point Man
How about the Cardinals' new slugger...Rick Ankiel!?! The pitcher who couldn't keep the ball below the umpire's head in the playoffs a few years back is now playing outfield and he hit two homers today. How's that for a feel-good story? Cygnus Q'ol
There is a disturbance in the force. The Brewers are sputtering their last gasps of breath from a raggedy, worn out bullpen. Instead of taking advantage of their misfortune, the Cubbies are wandering around, seemingly incoherent. ...and suddenly the Cards (reigning champs) are 4 back and gaining that ever important late season momentum. "I've got a bad feeling about this."
Jae Onasi
Ugh. I know how you feel, Cygnus. Jimbo, the kids, and I are going to the Cubs/Cards game on Monday. I'm going in my Cubs gear, they, having been corrupted to the Dark Side, are going in Cards gear. We're going to have 3 posters: 1. We're Cards fans!! 2. Mom's a Cubs fan!!! 3. But we love her anyway! We're in the upper deck way down the first base line. I was surprised Jimbo managed to get any tickets at all, to be honest. You're in prime foul ball territory, bring a glove. If the Cards do what they did to Milwaukee last night, you can use it to cover your head. I was surprised Jimbo managed to get any tickets at all, to be honest. Darkside power is very strong.
Point Man
...and suddenly the Cards (reigning champs) are 4.5 back Make that 3.5 after tonight's 8-3 win over the Brewers. I was surprised Jimbo managed to get any tickets at all, to be honest. Darkside power is very strong. That isn't the best of it. I snagged a couple of luxury box tickets to the September 24th game at Miller Park through work. I'll score some points with the president of my hospital (who is also a Cardinals fan) when I show up in my Cardinals jersey.

Point Man
After my Cardinals win tonight and the Cubs and Brewers lose, it will be a three-way tie in the NL Central, with the Cardinals one thousandth of a point ahead. Cygnus Q'ol
Now this is what you call a pennant race. If there's any life at all left in those bullpen pitching arms, then the Brew Crew has a good shot. The youngins are pounding the baseball these days. Ryan Braun for Rookie of the year? Got my vote. I think the homerun Fielder hit on Tuesday just re-entered the atmosphere this morning. This is going to be a very interesting week in baseball for the NL central. Commander Obi-Wan
Damn them Blue Jays. They were winning 4-1 during the bottom of the 9th inning against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays after A.J. Burnett pitched 8.0 innings, only allowing 3 hits, one run, and striking out 8. Then, they put our closer, Jeremy Accardo, who is the closer for the time-being since B.J. Ryan is out for the year. So, they give up two homer runs and lose the game to a bottom dweller team.
Commander Obi-Wan
Ummm... yeah. The Jays' bullpen officially suck. Another blown game, after another stellar performance by the starter. Roy Halladay pitched 8 2/3 innings and left the game with 2 players on base (first and third I think) and the Jays were up 4-1. Eventually, the Tigers won after a game winning single by none other than Magglio Ordonez. Though, some good news came today when the Jays signed our gold-glove calibre shortstop, John MacDonald to a 2 year/$3.8 million contract.

mimartin
Go Cards! Is there a Bird Flu vaccine yet? Because I think the Cardinals are just plain sick. How else do you explain losing seven in a row? 4.5 games out with 18 left, it isn’t over with 4 left against the Cubs and 3 left against the Brewers but the fat lady is warming up. Chin up at least the Cards are in it the last month on the season, unlike some other team I can think of. A team the Cards play 4 times before the season over. It may not help win the Central, but it should right the ship.
Cygnus Q'ol
Is there a Bird Flu vaccine yet? Because I think the Cardinals are just plain sick. How else do you explain losing seven in a row? The same problem the Brewers have. Bullpen woes. The only difference is the bats in Milwaukee are a bit warmer then the Missoura ones. Each game is getting considerably more crucial. However, with the Brewers and the Cubs, the Cards are still in the hunt.
Jae Onasi
Is there a Bird Flu vaccine yet? Because I think the Cardinals are just plain sick. Actually, I'm surprised they've been in the running for any significant time--they've had a ton of injuries/roster changes, and frankly they've over-achieved considering team stats. That's a testament to La Russa's skill and the players working their butts off. However, I still want the CUBS to pwn the little red birds in this upcoming series.
