Doctor Who! Doctor Who! :D

You can't hid from the Time Lords. The Matrix/APC net can cover all time. A TARDIS can go anywhen. So that statement about not going that far was just plain stupid. Also, last I heard, the Master couldn't regenerate, was a small lump of gelatinous goo, and was trapped in the Eye of Harmony.

My theory is that the Master somehow managed to escape the TARDIS (Since the Eye of Harmony isn't seen on the new series), in the episode Boom Town. It is a disappointing episode, but when the TARDIS was used to open the rift, the Master could have easily escaped. After that, I have no idea what happened next.

InSidious: That's why he disguised himself as a human. It would be harder for them to find him that way. They also wouldn't have a great deal of time to find him, considering they'd have the Daleks to worry about.

The Daleks were never that much of a concern to the Time Lords post-Genesis. There time travel technology was 'crude and nasty'. Besides, the Doctor seems to think he became human to survive the Time War, so I'd imagine he ended up there in some kind of temporal shockwavy thing.

The Doctor has been wrong before. He's not infallible. And obviously the Daleks were a concern enough to cause the Time Lords, a pacifist race, to wage war, and for the Doctor to be terrified of the one in Dalek - not to mention his reaction to the ten thousand ships in Parting of the Ways. The Doctor didn't really succeed in Genesis, now did he? Not really.

But for argument's sake, I'll pose another theory then. The Eye of Harmony is what gave the TARDIS it's power, correct? The Doctor has had to stop in Cardiff to re-fuel twice in the new series, when he never had to in the old, to my knowledge. Therefore, it must not be around anymore, logically. Maybe when it was destroyed, the Master was freed.

Or it could be similar to the Doctor as 'the Other' theory. Maybe the Eye was somehow tied in with the Looms, and the Master's DNA was rebuilt during the war. That theory doesn't really hold water though, as the Vampire's curse was lifted during Lady President Romana's time, wasn't it?

It will probably be explained over the next two weeks.

The Sound of the Drums was great, but something tells me that Last of the Time Lords will be better. Anyway, the Doctor's (the member ) theory about the Master was right. I liked how Gallifrey was shown in the episode, but a young kid Master just didn't seem right, for some reason. Liked the Torchwood references and Martha herself seems to have gone back to her old self, since The Lazarus Experiment.

In an earlier post I mentioned this:

Also, since the Master was human, that would explain why the Doctor couldn't "sense" him, as it is referred to in the first series that the Doctor would know if there were any other Time Lords about. So how come the Doctor can be in London, where the Master is, under the disguise of Mr Saxon, and not know about it?

Of course, this was explained in today's episode briefly, so I'm happy :)

SPOILERS!

You were warned, Earthlings.

Hmm. Another mixed bag. Simm is good as the Master, I'll grant. He's good as the Master in a 1972 serial. Then you could get away with hamminess, which now is just out of place. At times, the over-acting spilled over a bit too far, too (such as meeting the Jones' at the airport), such that it made Ainley and Roberts look restrained, but...eh.

Although again with the childish humour, and the cross-species love, which seems even more unlikely given the Master's arrogance - and his comment in "Utopia" about being killed by a female...a Time Lord falling in love with a human is rather like a human falling in love with a butterfly - it may be pretty, but it's thoroughly stupid, and dead in no time. You couldn't even use it for casual sex - as a relationship, it's pointless.

I did like the shots of Gallifrey - very well done there, although the whole idea of Time Lords procreating is bizarre, IMO - I can't even get my head around the concept of...well, put it this way. Borusa or Flavia in bed, even with another Gallifreyan. Exactly.

Although, come to think of it, it didn't exactly look old. Which given that it had been built ten-million years previously...

Besides, Rassilon is modelled on Divi Augustus, who was very much a prude, and wouldn't have thought that sort of thing ought to go on (though wouldn't have let that stop him getting it on with whoever he fancied), and there's the whole question of the Looms, the Great Houses, the Pythia, etc.

That's rather nitpicky, though.

Also, the Time Lords resurrecting him? Hmmm. A little too convenient, IMO. As usual, an explanation that doesn't actually explain.

the Toclafane remind me of the Spheroids (?) of Spheron I in Futurama ("we demand bouncing!" "And rolling!" &c.), but otherwise are OK, although their voices are a little annoying, and about as scary as a pink, fluffy Slitheen.

Erm. Anyone else spot the Time Lord sign on the Valiant?

I did like the 'paradox machine', but there's been no explanation of why the Toclafane are a paradox. Also, if the Master has heard the sound of drums all his life, why are we only hearing about it now?

Direction was bland and the music steadily got worse. The Master, too, now is a naff twat from down the pub, but I was expecting that.

Pace was good, the story arc worked, even if we did find out what was going to happen rather too early. Curious to see how the Time Lords fit into this.

Like so many RTD stories (yes, he's earned his actual name back...), flawed, but a great basic idea.

Oh, and what the hell was that about choosing their names? We're not meant to know why the Doctor is the Doctor, or how, or anything else. He just is. Like time itself.

Would be 6/10, but it gains a point for the use of actual Time Lord dress (although the idea of a Time Lord outside the Citadel except for a ceremonial purpose and the naming of a continent "Wild Endeavours" knocks it down half a point).

The final Chancelloric Assignation By Order of Rassilon Greatest and Best therefore is 6.5/10

[Edit: What a long review!]

@Doctor: I wrote you an answer, but it got deleted when my internet cut off/I got signed out >.< . Its late over here, so I'll answer you properly later/earlier/tomorrow or somesuch ;)

The low point of the episode for me was when the six billion Toclafane show up and the music playing in the background was Voodoo Child by Rogue Traders, the scene probably would of gone alot better without any electro pop whatsoever, although I see the connection, since their second album is entitled "Here Comes The Drums", but still, it wasn't needed.

I liked the song too... lol xD

The ep was pretty good, my heart was pounding all the way through. But the Toclafane invasion just smacked of a rehash of the dalek invasion... >_> Next weeks ep looks pretty good though.

The Infinite Quest is quite good. David does well as the Doctor, but Freema (who plays Martha) doesn't seem to have cartoon voices down well. Anthony Head (who plays the Prime Minister in Little Britain and the headteacher in last year's Doctor Who episode, School Reunion), plays the villian. I hope that the Infinite Quest is released as a special on the Series 3 Box Set.

Well, after finally getting around to seeing the Television movie, I feel the need to make some form of comment on it.

It was...alright. Was glad to see that, despite what I had read, the guy playing the Master wasn't quite as 'Terminator-ry' as I was expecting (although it definitely bugged me that he had an American accent). The whole half-human thing, in my head at least, can probably be dismissed as only applying to the eighth Doctor. Something do with blood transfusions during the operation or...something. One thing which really bugged me though was the remix of the theme tune. I can't really describe what was wrong with it, but it was a little 'off'.

On the up side, I really did enjoy McGann as the character and think it's a bit of a shame he never got to do anything more in the role.

Eric Roberts did do a good Master, but with people like Anthony Ainley, he isn't the best. I have to agree that the half-human thing was due to the operation he had, prior to his regeneration. The theme tune reminded me of Star Trek slightly, no idea why though. And I agree that McGann was good as the Doctor.

Tomorrow is the day that The Infinite Quest and Last of the Time Lords will be aired. I shudder to think of the future, where Britney Spears will appear in the Christmas Special.

It sounded exactly what I thought an american Doctor Who TV movie theme would sound like, all american and really averagly orchestrated, and those kooky piano fills were the icing on the cake :D

I can't wait until tomorrow's episode, and The Inifinite Quest! :)

I think that's what was bugging me. The title flying past the screen was very reminiscent of the Enterprise in TNG.

I heard it was going to be Kylie, although I gather both are still rumors at this point. Wonder if we'll get an answer/teaser along the lines of Catherine Tates' entrance at the end of last series.

I haven't actually seen the TV movie, myself. I've read as much about it as I could, and even written a little bit about it, but I've never actually seen it. Anyone know where I could see the entire thing online? I can't seem to find it on LimeWire.

Can't wait for the Last of the Time Lords! The Doctor hasn't been in this tight a spot in a long time!

I hope not, otherwise Russell is really running out of ideas. I'm hoping for a Christmas Episode which could be similar to The Christmas Invasion, but not The Runaway Bride.

I just watched the Infinite Quest and I thought it was quite good, with a plot a bit more Sci-Fi than some of the episodes in this current series. My only complaints are the animation wasn't the best I've seen and Freema's voice for Martha wasn't great, but other than that, I liked it. It was good to watch it all, instead of three minute segements.

Looking forward to tonight's episode and the repeat of some Doctor Who actors on the Weakest Link.

Freema hasn't quite got the hang of it, although David's voice was spot on!

Just finished watching the last episode, it was great! :D

Can't wait for Voyage Of The Damned
