createstarwars Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 I am one of the authors of a non-profit project named createstarwars.org that purposes to make 3D-fan-made movies based on Timothy Zahn's "The Thrawn Trilogy". Our primary task is to collect as many Star Wars fans (with knowledge of 3D graphic and sound editing) as possible. After that we will try to make "The Thrawn Trilogy" using 3D animation only. You can find our trailer at http://www.createstarwars.org It is also placed on youtube and video.google http://video.google.pl/videoplay?docid=-4308196277065657952&q=thrawn+trilogy+trailer If you are interested in joining this project, visit our website - http://www.createstarwars.org
swphreak Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 That's a rather ambitious project. I look forward to seeing it finished. Good luck.

Right?
CLONECOMMANDER501 Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Well, if it's legal you could try looking at SciFi3d.com

Jae Onasi Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 As long as appropriate credit is given to the authors/LA and the items aren't being sold or exchanged for anything, I think it's doable, though it's possible LA may frown on it. It's no different from fanfics, which we've been told in the past are fine to do as long as we're not trying to make any money off them.
Astrotoy7 Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 not to be a cynic, but animating space ships is one things - getting dialogue and character interaction is entirely another thing. Still, I'd love to see you guys render Mara Jade - I assume youd use Shannon Baksa as your reference ?? good luck mtfbwya
Gug Eyewalker Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Its a great idea , one I have often contemplated myself. BUT, for that same reason, Lucasarts may be looking to do it themselves someday, just like they did with Shadows of the Empire. You may want to ask them or check on the legality of it.
The Source Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Up until the other day, I believed that this sort of thing would be Illegal. After Lucas released pieces of his films online for fan editing, I do not know what is or what is not Illegal with his frnachise. I guess the sky is the limit. Good luck man.
