Lynk Former
@ Bomberman65: Okay. I'd like to point something out. You completely missed the entire point of my post and have gone off on a pointless rant. I'll clear this up for you. Everything I said in my previous post wasn't designed to convert people into buying a DS lite and it wasn't designed to put down people who had bought a PSP in the first place. What I was stating was what seems to be the general trend that is occurring on a worldwide scale in terms of what propels the success of the DS and the PSP. And please, actually READ my post properly since I did say the PSP is doing very well for itself and that unlike every other handheld that has challenged Nintendo in the past, it has survived and is thriving. I was also pointing out some points as to why the PSP isn't beating the DS at the moment. And yes, while some things I said in my post had an air of negativity around it, it wasn't a case making up s*** just to make the DS sound better. Like I said, I'm just stating what has propelled these two handhelds so far in the worldwide market. Like you said, both have pros and cons, and these pros and cons are exactly why some choose to avoid either system or buy one and not the other, yada, yada. To make it as simple as possible for you. I think the PSP could've taken Nintendo off of the top the handheld ladder, it's just that Sony had no experience as to what makes a good handheld better than it could be. I'm sure the PSP2 will give Nintendo a run for its money, and personally I hope it does cause competition is a great thing to have between companies. Bomberman65
Yeah sorry about that man. My bad. But yeah well the PSP has just started out I wouldn't be suprised if the PSP rises in sales as much as the DS in time. But we'll see its only just started out. And again sorry about before. Lynk Former
Don't worry about it. After I posted my post I asked Darth Moeller if it was diplomatic enough cause I was worried people would take it the wrong way XD EDIT: In terms of how the PSP and DS are doing, the PSP has some decent games out so far, but the DS has such a wider appeal that puts it so far ahead, I can't honestly see it matching the DS in the future at all. But like I said before, the PSP is doing just as well as the PS2 is if you align their launch dates and watch the sales numbers per week... well, actually you CAN do that lol. http://www.vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php fiddle around with this to see how things are going. Lynk Former
@ tyrone333: Can I ask... have you actually looked at the kind of games the DS has? I mean, I"m well aware of the view most people have that Nintendo is just for kids. Sure the DS has Nintendogs, but it also has Metroid Prime Hunters, Final Fantasy III and more. It's funny because the types of games you've mentioned are the kind of games people like to play on the DS too. *looks around* Does anyone really consider the "Nintendo = for kids" arguement to be valid anymore? EDIT: And don't worry, this isn't going to degenerate into a war But this is a forum, it's more than just "I have a PSP too" usually people like to talk a little more and discuss rather than post short messages like a chatroom. Not to mention Typing Of The Dead, as well as Hotel Dusk. An on rails House Of The Dead style shooter and basically an interactive novel, I wouldn't call those kids games. And you can call Pokemon a kids game all you want, but I've seen more adults playing the new Pokemon games than kids. We had a little mini tournament in my Precalc class because like 6 people had the game and wanted to see who was the best. it was 4 seniors and 2 juniors doing it Especially with Manhunt 2 coming out on the Wii, I just can't call Nintendo kiddy. txa1265
I own both a DS and a PSP. They each have their strengths and weaknesses - and plenty of good games for anyone who is interested in most genres. If you head to GamerDad's review archive you'll see that I have ~37 DS reviews and ~75 PSP reviews up there. I also have a ~monthly article I write for RPGWatch that covers role-playing games on handhelds. The latest one is here. While the RPG selection has not been up to GBA snuff yet, recent additions like "Izuna" and "Etrian Odyssey" on the DS have been very welcome. Oh - and for anyone who thinks the DS is kiddy, you should see magazine editors and publishers getting old-school giddy over Etrian Odyssey at the moment! Lynk Former
That's cause most RPGs on the DS are still Japan only or still in development txa... most of which are Final Fantasy lol XD

Things are much better now - Etrian Odyssey in particular is brilliant (and killer hard!)
Samuel Dravis
wow, txa is back? Sweet. I've played with a PSP and I kinda want one. I like the extra things you can do with it, like put vids on it etc. I've seen you can get one used for about 120-150USD here. Games I honestly don't care about that much. I might get Lumines for it though.

Gargoyle King
I have one of those fancy Silver import PSPs from Japan, gonna need a new mobo however as firmware is 3.10 (no homebrew ) - i had a white one before that until it broke on me that was fully able to play emulation, ps1 games and emulators. Games are good for the PSP and are getting better everyday, i think the PSP has a bright future.
