SykoRevan
The time has come for yours truly to start on a good mod project. So I bring to you the first news of my plans to make a follow-up to my "Lots of Little Things" Tweak Mod, which I am calling The Ultimate Tweak Mod. This time, I plan to clean up as much as possible, and make as many edits to the game as I see fit. I will be making a KotOR 1 AND a TSL version, unlike last time where I only made a K1 version. But to do so, I will need some help from anyone who can assist me. I have already implemented all the content from the LOLT into the K1 mod, and I've already duplicated most of those same edits into the TSL version (Of course, I shall be leaving out such things as Malak's eye change and the Komad Fortuna re-skin, as you will never see either in TSL) One of the concepts of this mod is to make the Force Powers in the game look more like the ones in the movies. That means no visual effects for powers like Force Push, Force Jump, or Force Choke, plus others. That does not mean the animations will be gone, just any special effects. After all, the Force is "invisible." One thing I will need is for people to help point out Force Powers that need to have their visual effects removed, just in case I miss one. I will also be editing the party members, something I didn't do in the first mod, so that they are stronger and more capable when they join you. This is especially prominent in TSL, as I will be adding many feats to party members that they originally would not have, such as giving Mandalore and Atton the "War Veteran" feat, as both of them fought in the Mandalorian Wars, and Atton will have the Echani Strike feats, as he does have Echani training in the game... sorta. But now he will actually HAVE Echani training . Of course, I will be making sure that the extra feats actually make sense. For example, I will not be giving Kreia "Wookiee Fury" or anything like that It's nothing major, but it makes your party more capable. I will also be making custom portraits for every character I can. This is something I really need help on, as I need to find some good high resolution promotional pictures of the main characters. I will not be doing what Shem and others have done and using in-game pictures. Instead, I will be using promotional pictures and the like. One other thing I wish to do is change some music in the games. I didn't do this last time because it would be copyright infringement. However, using parts of the music instead of the entire music score is not infringement if I remember what someone said when I was making the LOLT mod. So I need someone to take the music I want in the mod and fix it so it can be used in the mod without any legal troubles. Here is a general list of what's in the mod, although I'm kinda tired, so I more than likely left out a few things. Well, here it is. Note: Completed items are green, things I have yet to do are in red. UTM Properties KotOR 1 Force Power Tweaks: -Force Push/Wave -Wound/Choke/Kill -Force Jump -Force Shock/Lightning/Storm -Drain Life (change Color) Visual Tweaks: -Lightsaber Sparks -Combat Feat VFX (Power Attack, Critical Strike, Flurry) -Disruptor Blaster Bolts (change from white to blue) Skins: -Darth Malak (Sith Eyes) -Komad Fortuna (White Skin) -Bastila Clothing Transparency Fix -PC Dark Jedi Robes (Cleanup) Party Members: -Portraits -Feats, Skills, etc. Music: -Working to completion Miscellaneous Tweaks: -Jolee Clothing Fix on Kashyyyk -Yuthura and Uthar Uniform Fix More as it comes KotOR 2: TSL Force Power Tweaks: -Force Push/Wave -Wound/Choke/Kill -Force Jump -Force Shock/Lightning/Storm -Drain Life (change Color) -Force Crush Visual Tweaks: -Lightsaber Sparks Removal -Combat Feat VFX (Power Attack, Critical Strike, Flurry) -Disruptor Blaster Bolts (change from white to blue) Skins: -Kreia one-handed model texture fix Party Members: -Portraits -Feats, Skills, etc. Music: -Not done yet Miscellaneous Tweaks: -More as it comes I hope this mod generates some interest, and I hope it comes out great when and if (hopefully when) I release it. Alexander the Great
For the portraits, why don't you use the concept art pictures? The ones for Kreia, Visas, and HK look very cool. I haven't seen the others, though.
SykoRevan
For the portraits, why don't you use the concept art pictures? The ones for Kreia, Visas, and HK look very cool. I haven't seen the others, though. I might do that for TSL, as there aren't many, if any, good high-def promo pictures for the party members. The problem is, I can't find anything for G0-T0 or Mandalore, and while some concept art exists for Kreia, Visas, Mira and others, there isn't any I could find for Atton, Disciple, or the Handmaiden, but all 3 of them do have promo pictures. But I'm afraid that if some character portraits are concept art and others are CG promo, it would be a turn-off. Of course, in the end, that may be what I have to do, and if people don't like the portraits, they won't have to use them, as I will be separating parts of this mod, as I did with the LOLT. However, I do want to make everything about this mod as desirable as possible. I've seen the concept art for Kreia and Visas, and I do have to agree that they do look great. Even better than the in-game models do . If someone could find a good promo or concept art image of Mandalore and/or G0-T0, that would help, as those are the most elusive. To be honest though, the portraits for TSL might not be a good thing, as I also have to take into account the DS Transitions of certain party members, and I don't want to use in-game shots for those, so in the end, there won't be custom Dark Side portraits for any party members. I'll probably include it anyway, just in case people like them, or for those who always go LS and won't mind the absence of custom DS portraits. ... Holy Mother of Vader, I just realized how much I typed in accordance to that one thing. Jeez, I talk too much but over thinking things at least means less chance of error on my part. Adelphus
Holy mother of Vader, I like that For portraits you could always do a series of 3d renders for each NPC and PC I suppose, but that would be a lot of work if you were to include all the PC heads. SykoRevan
Holy mother of Vader, I like that I like it too, the phrase just came to me. From this moment on, I patent the phrase "Holy Mother of Vader!" For portraits you could always do a series of 3d renders for each NPC and PC I suppose, but that would be a lot of work if you were to include all the PC heads. This would be time-consuming for just portraits, and it would be using the in-game models, so I might as well just take screenshots in-game. Plus, I have a feeling 3d programs like gmax hate me, since they refuse to work with me:xp:. Also, I am only doing party members, not PC's, just so everyone knows. But like I said, the portraits are really just one of many features I am working on, no matter how much I seem to be rambling about them, and I'm really just making them because... well, why not, right? SykoRevan
Well, I've finished boosting the party members, but there is still much that needs to be done. I still need someone who would be willing to help me edit the music I want to put in the game. Also, I wanted to remove another visual effect, but I cannot find how to. I'm looking to remove the ball of static that appears on the player's hands when you cast Force Lightning, but I checked in spells.2da, and the force lightning powers do not seem to have anything in the casthandvisual column. Here is what I'm talking about. Compare this Force lightning to any time you see it in the movies. How do I get rid of that small ball of purplish static that surrounds the character's hands? darthcarth
Im not sure that is posible i think that might be part of entire fore lighting animation.

Weave
The Force Ball Lightning is fx_conjure.tpc in the swpc_tex_tpa.erf section of TexturePacks... (Under letter F). That's about all I could find... How you delete that is something I don't know about... As for music... I can help you... I've got some backround as a sound techie... I've made my own personal music for the KOTOR modules... As for your mod... I like it! Especially the Atton thing (Echani strike feats, War Veteran, Complex Unarmed Animations)... I usually put those same feats in through SGE... a mod is much nicer though. Are you going to put Force Sight (or maybe even Stealth Run) for Visas? Force Sight definitely would make sense.... Finally, will Atton have those feats after he tells you about his assassin days (through scripting and what not)? Or will he just start out with them when you first meet him? SykoRevan
Looking good, Syko! - Ghost Down Thanks, Ghost Down. Now for another update. I've finished editing all appropriate Force Powers, and I found out how to get rid of the static ball in Force Lightning, and here is proof BOOYA! I am one step closer to the finish line. Noted, I still am in need of assistance in the music department, so anyone who is willing to help, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to go on a hunt for good pictures for the portraits (I've already completed the portraits for almost all the K1 party members), and I'm also looking through TSL to see what re-skin changes I can make. On that note, I need to know what texture file is used for Kreia's one-handed model, as I want to fix the texture problem with that model. I also need to know how to make Jolee appear in his default clothes when you first see him on Kashyyyk. I am sure I will think of more things, and I will update regularly. Once again, any help will be greatly appreciated... And you get a free cookie.

SykoRevan
Look at my previous post Oh, I didn't see your post, as I posted at around the same time as you did, 2 minutes after to be exact The Force Ball Lightning is fx_conjure.tpc in the swpc_tex_tpa.erf section of TexturePacks... Finally, will Atton have those feats after he tells you about his assassin days (through scripting and what not)? Or will he just start out with them when you first meet him? Yes, I did use that file, and all I did was make the texture file completely black, and that erased the static ball. I plan to make other edits to other "fx" texture files just to mess around I'd be glad to accept your help with the music. Once I get all the tracks sorted out, I'll send them to you, just PM me your e-mail. Muchos Gracias for the assist Also, thank you since you just pointed out something I missed: giving Visas the Force Sight power. I'll do that right now. In fact, I think I now have a few things to add to all the party members in the TSL version. And to answer your question, Atton and all the party members will have their extra feats from the start, as it just seems to make sense to me. Besides, I am a HORRIBLE scripter ...And I mean... Weave
Trust me... scripting isn't my thing either... beyond force powers... I'm little more than a complete dipstick... .ncs whaaaa??? Anyways... as for other FX re-skins... Red Force aura/shield/ and armor would be something I'd like to see... And that stupid conjure effect for choke has got to go (the purple cloud)... Although... I'll just do that myself... I'll PM you right now... I can also tell you where to get some music-editing software so that you don't have to deal with my nonsense everytime you want to make a music change... Good to know I'm not alone in my ineptitude And you may be pleased to know that I already fixed the Wound/Choke/Kill line of powers so there are no VFX, including the "purple cloud" that I too hated. That was fixed by going into spell.2da and changing the column casthandvisual to ****. I forgot how I got rid of the other VFX, which was the flash of light that appeared on the victim's neck, but that too is gone. I will soon make a list of all the Force Powers I edited, just as reference, and to let people know what I changed in this mod, for things like merging .2da files and things like that. I'll probably change the color of the "Life Drain" power, as orange never seemed to be the right color for me. That's for starters. Who knows, I'm so insane, I might go ahead and mess with every texture in the game just for the heck of it

Where exactly do you want me to put the music files? Which modules? I think I'm going to make it red, or purple, to match Death Field. The music files are gonna go straight in the streammusic folder. I've already named the tracks accordingly, and tested the music tracks, and they work fine. The only trouble is the legal problems with releasing the full version of the music tracks in the mod, which is where the editing comes in. It'll be kinda like how they did in Jedi Outcast, where they took parts of different music tracks from the movies and put them in the levels. SykoRevan
Keep in mind that this is a generic texture that is used by a whole bunch of models for different purposes though, and editing it will affect all those. If I remember correctly it's also used by some grenade explosions to make pretty sparks fly around, for example. There's good news on that part. I've tested it out, starting with grenades and other visual effects, and editing that .tga file doesn't seem to affect any other things I can see. I guess fx_conjure is used only by Force Lightning, which I guessed at the start since it was just a series of the same static ball. So no problems there so far. In other news, the K1 portraits are coming along very well, as well as almost every other part of the mod. The only K1 portrait I don't have is Canderous, because I just can't find a good picture of him. The only portraits I'm not fond of are Jolee and Juhani, because they're not as good as the others. The quality is just not as good. I'll post a screen soon, as well as other updates. Also, I still need to know these 2 things 1) For K1, how do I change Jolee from wearing Jedi Robes to his default clothes when you first meet him? 2) For TSL, what is the texture file for the one-handed Kreia model? Ferc Kast
want to change Jolee's appearance when you first meet him in the Shadowlands on Kashyyyk. Thanks for correcting me stoffe. I checked, and the other Force powers that use the fx_conjure texture don't look bad with it's absence, so that's good. However, I don't even know what the first two models (411dxnr and plc_endcorps) are. On a side note, thanks to jonathan7, I have now made headway with the TSL portraits. Might I say that those portraits are magnificent, they look amazing, except there isn't one for Mira, so I'll need to find a nice picture for that. I'll get a screen posted ASAP. All in all, I'm making good progress. I've also started going through the whole game to fix other things. For example, there seems to be a Sith uniform inconsistency with Yuthura and Uthar on Korriban (they change clothing variants.) I have changed their in-module .utc's for every area they appear in so that they now always wear the 2nd clothing variant (If you're using Prime's Imperial Uniform Mod, this means they both now wear the black officer uniform) That's just one of the changes. Now, there are some things I won't bother fixing (such as Bastila's mother wearing Jedi robes on Tatooine), as they have been fixed by other popular mods, like Shem's Super Enhanced Mod, and the USM. For the Jolee clothing fix: -RIMs --Modules ---kas_m24aa_s.rim ----Blueprint, Character -----p_jolee001.utc Open his inventory and switch the robes for clothes. Thanks for the info, Dragoon. I did it myself before you edited your post to include the .utc. The Jolee appearance problem is now... FIXED. A small accomplishment, but one step closer to the oh-so-desired finish line all the same. So, that's it for now, more updates will come, hopefully soon. May the Force be with us all...especially me:D
