Boba Rhett
It's not a song, but I also added the Army of Darkness line, "This... is my BOOMSTICK", in whenever Kyle pulled out the Concussion Rifle. Good times. Oh, I also stuffed some Phantom Planet songs into GTA3. For whatever reason it just makes for good car stealing music. I approve of your generous use of Zeppelin. Tommycat
I just turn off the music in game and put on some +1 on this... Slayer works quite well for most situations.... Slipknot works well in others... Canibal Corpse made the Skyramp REAAALLLL fun(pretty much a mosh pit) For the original KotOR I used all local music. Wellll and Hemlock which is regional.... HerbieZ
Kreia's theme was replaced with Cartoon Heroes by Aqua. That's pretty much it. Kicks me in the ribs everytime it comes on.
Balderdash
I approve of your generous use of Zeppelin.Agreed! I don't mod my games [myself] but usually I'll switch the sound off and put something on, depending on how good the sound is in the game... if it's quite text-heavy with not much voice acting (think PS:T) then I'll definitely want something on... rock or hip hop mostly. stoffe
I don't mod my games [myself] but usually I'll switch the sound off and put something on, depending on how good the sound is in the game... if it's quite text-heavy with not much voice acting (think PS:T) then I'll definitely want something on... rock or hip hop mostly. Some games have fairly poorly chosen music that could easily be substituted, but to some games the music is an integral part of building up the atmosphere of the game world, in my opinion. Such as the aforementioned Torment soundtrack in some areas, like Deionarra's theme when she appears. Having some rock track in the background when playing Bioshock would also ruin the atmosphere of that game, just to mention two examples. Thus I usually leave the original soundtrack in place unless it's either annoying or something I've heard so often I'm sick of it (e.g. the Morrowind music. Having 1 ambient track and 1 battle track for a 200+ hour game was not a good idea...).
Balderdash
Yeah, I did like Torment's music at times actually (I really liked the Brothel where you meet Fall From Grace). I'd still rather listen to my own collection and rely on the descriptions to create the mood, though... I played Bioshock on the Xbox rather than PC, so I would've missed out on all Atlas' "would you kindly" radio transmissions and the diaries anyway if I'd have put some music on. But yeah, what I remember of the music was pretty good.
Samuel Dravis
stoffe I agree with your Morrowind comment. I switched out some of that music with tracks from The Gone Jackals of Full Throttle soundtrack fame. Biker rock in a medieval setting ftfw! Those cliff racers did not know what vengeance they were about to incur... Also, with guild wars I have stopped listening to any sound the game makes whatsoever and just play my music in the background. I started doing this some time ago, because after playing it so long the sounds aren't really necessary!
