Serpentine Cougar
I just finished Metal Gear Solid 1, for the first Playstation, my first ever play-through. It was so cool! I'm not much into stories that take place in the modern age, but I really liked this one because of all the surprises and plot twists. I'd heard that the game had a good story, but didn't believe it till I saw it. Now I want to play numbers 2 and 3! I really liked the blend Western and Eastern elements in the game and it's story. It seemed like it would appeal to audiences from both parts of the world. Anyway, things to discuss: 1. The coolness/nostalgia of the first Metal Gear Solid game. 2. My dorkiness of playing such an old game.... Also, please don't mention spoilers for the other games (or put them in spoiler tags).
Ctrl Alt Del
Congratulations, you've just finished one of the best games of all time! MGS2 is a direct sequel to the MGS1, taking place some time after the Shadow Moses incident. As you warned, no spoilers, but I can say that you'll like this one too. MGS3 is actually a prequel. Yes, placed at 60's and at the heart of one of the Soviet Union Republics. It's actually a deep jungles most of the part. What can I say? At the heart of the Cold War, brilliant enemies, allies (Or people you thought to be allies), plot twists and... A younger Revolver Ocelot. Nancy Allen``
Ah, Snake Eater. And to think I was just looking this up yesterday. The Boss, quite simply, is one of the best game characters of all time. I won't go into detail here but it certainly explains a large part of the story, especially Big Boss and perhaps gives a reason for his actions. As for the first Metal Gear, I have both the original one for Playstation and Twin Snakes, and honestly I would rather play this than even the upcoming Guns of the Patriots, and this beats Sons of Liberty hands down. Y'know I actually wrote to DARPA about the possibility of using a railgun to launch missiles and avoid the problem of detection, it not being considered a missile, ect. Now get to work on the VR Missions, these are great fun and a nice diversion from the heavy handed seriousness and morality in the game.
Serpentine Cougar
When the DARPA chief and the Armstech president died, I was sure they had been killed by the CIA (or was it DIA) or something. Like some device had been implanted into them, and just as they were about to reveal important information the CIA didn't want leaked, they pressed a button and the guy died. So I was pleasantly surprised when I was proven wrong, hehe. I actually wrote to DARPA about the possibility of using a railgun to launch missiles and avoid the problem of detection, it not being considered a missile, ect. Now get to work on the VR Missions, these are great fun and a nice diversion from the heavy handed seriousness and morality in the game. Wow, you wrote to DARPA? Talk about taking a video game seriously. Actually, the "heavy handed" story was the best thing the game had going for it, in my opinion, so I probably won't be playing the VR Missions. They're just a bunch of miscellaneous stealth missions strung together, right? Now I'm off to start Final Fantasy 6: the next really-old-game-I-need-to-play. Nancy Allen``
I don't think I got a reply from them, but on Metal Gear, if the gameplay appealed to you at all then the VR missions rock hard. Just go back to playing through again after picking up the things you can do in the game. And especially after learning a bit about Big Boss Snake Eater is essential to play. Lol the man eats anything.
