Eefluxx
If I take a uti and change the name of it after changing the restrictions and attributes do I need to change the MDL and MDX that is for the item and put them in the override as well? The appearance of the said item is not changed at all but the uti's name is changed (ie. a_robe_01.uti is now a_robe_99.uti) Any help is appreciated Thanks Eefluxx
Inyri
If you're looking to have the same appearance but different stats, you do not need to do anything with the models.
Marius Fett
The name of the file doesn't matter. It's the tag and resref that affect the game. You could call the file bob.uti, but if the resref was jim you would have to type giveitem jim in the console. See? And it's also the model variation field in the uti that tells it which model to use. Not the file name.
Eefluxx
Thank you Inyri and DDD. If its the model variation field how do you know which is which? process of elimination? Basically what I have is Atton's and Mira's jacket and there model variation is zero
Inyri
They don't have variations as far as I know. The 'model variation' is basically just the different numbered textures for armors, since not every armor uses a brand new model.
Eefluxx
Thank you again Inyri I think the problem I am having is a mod I have installed that I will have to uninstall I guess to see if it works then Thanks for the help
Qui-Gon Glenn
Thank you again Inyri I think the problem I am having is a mod I have installed that I will have to uninstall I guess to see if it works then Thanks for the help Could be. But what DDD was referring to was a mistake I made when first playing with robes. If you are using KGFF to edit the uti, it will be one of the last fields towards the bottom of the list. The texture variation (textvar) needs to be the same number as your filename's, in your case 99, coming from a_robe_99. Thanks again to DDD for his tut and subsequent help troubleshooting
Marius Fett
@qui_gon_glenn Actually, the texture variation doesn't have to be the same as the file name. Like I said in my first post, the file name does nothing. You could call the uti file bob.uti, but as long as the texture variation was 99 it would still use the texture. Take robes for example. As long as the TexVar field has a 99 in it then the uti would still use PMBI99 or PFBI99.
Eefluxx
DDD if I am using Attons Jacket and Mira's jacket and making a sperate version for the anyone else to where I would have to change the uti's right? So would I then have to change the tga's to match the uti so it would work so Atton and Mira can still have their jackets and the PC or another NPC still have their own version of it?(ie. just make a copy of the TGA's for Atton's and Mira's jacket to use with the new uti)
Marius Fett
You would have to edit the uti files to remove the NPC restriction. Then edit appearence.2da to make the models available for the PC and other NPCs.
Eefluxx
Okay I didn't think about the 2da part. This tutorial that Qui Gon Glenn mentioned. where might I find it?
Marius Fett
You can find a link in my sig. It's the robe one. Theres nothing in it about 2da files though as i've never needed to work with them. It's got the texture variations etc though so it might be woorth a look if you're stuck.
