Shortly after the explosion, the battle was over, and Zarena emerged from behind the loading ramp, a little disappointed that she seemed to have missed most of the action.

 

"I noticed a base or city to the north which Thryyn pointed out, could be worth a visit, but in the meantime... there could be more Sith preparing to strike, this welcome wagon would of probably reported their whereabouts... so stay sharp."

 

"I don't think it's a good idea for everyone to go investigate the base. The ship'd be a sitting duck, and we're gonna need it safe if we're gonna be making any daring escapes."

Evelyn raised her head and observed the bushes, making sure there was nothing moving in the aftermath of the battle. She then retreated to join the rest of the team.

 

"I don't think it's a good idea for everyone to go investigate the base. The ship'd be a sitting duck, and we're gonna need it safe if we're gonna be making any daring escapes."

 

"But if we stay here and the Sith have alerted another patrol, anyone at the ship will be a target. If a select few of our more combat-orientated members were to scout the forest, they may give as an advantage, as I expect they'll assume we'll all remain in the one spot, be it our base or theirs."

"I'll have to slightly disagree with you on that Miss Evelyn. This is a common tactic my boys and I used for taking out the enemy. You send a small strike force in knowing they'll die. The enemy will then send out their better soldiers to go search for more while the real strike force waits to pick off the weaker ones. My suggestion would be to mix it up sending some strong and some weak to go look for more and the rest stay guard here. I'll lead the attacking team; I'll take Aeran, Thryyn, Jaq and that zeltron over there." Kevak responded.

 

He then looked up and saw the girl they called Shara.

 

"I'll also take you... Shara, your sniping will be very useful," he said while looking at Erik , "You won't mind if I borrow your girlfriend for a minute... I'll bring her back."

 

Kevak pulled his sword out and waited for a response so he added,

 

"Feel free to disagree with me, I don't want to be the one responsible for killing us all."

"I'll take Aeran, Thryyn, Jaq and that zeltron over there." Kevak responded.

 

"Heh, sounds like the ideal sort of job for me." Jaq smirked. "Alright, I'm in." He placed his blaster in its holster attached to his back.

 

Jaq remembered something Kevak said earlier; You send a small strike force in knowing they'll die.

 

"And just what exactly makes you think the "weaker" team will die for us? Sending in a suicide squad has been done before in my clan, but was viewed as highly dishonorable. If we continue on with this plan, we'll need to look out for the other team members to ensure no heavy casualties occur. We need the man power afterall..."

 

"Speaking of which; who will be in team 2?"

"I'll take Aeran, Thryyn, Jaq and that zeltron over there." Kevak responded.

 

"I'm in." Thryyn said, absently changing the clip on his assault rifle.

 

"Speaking of which; who will be in team 2?"

 

"Jaq," He said, once the clip was finally installed correctly, "I think that Kevak was referring to how the Sith were operating, not to how this mission is going to go. It was used on the worlds that the Sith were invading in the earlier days of the war."

 

Thryyn paused before realizing that the Twi'lek was involved in this exploit. "Uh... Shara?" He said. "No hard feelings, right?"

"I'll lead the attacking team; I'll take Aeran, Thryyn, Jaq and that zeltron over there."

 

With a twitch of her thumb Zarena pointed at herself.

 

"The name's Zarena, try not to forget it."

 

She rested one hand on her blaster holster, the other on her vibroblade handle. I don't know whether to be honoured or offended that I'm taken with this "mix of strong and weak". But if he thinks for one second that I'm one of the weak ones... well, I'll show him!

Evelyn nodded. "Very well. I know little of war, but I assure you that I'll be able to hold off anyone that may attack us here should the True Sith operate as you describe."

Aeran felt glad that he was 'worthy' of being one of the members to go and explore.

 

"Right with you guys" He said, slinging his rifle over his back and preparing to move out.

 

"The surrounding area is probably crawling with Sith, we're going to have to try not and draw much attention, and if we do take down a patrol, we need to cut and run as soon as possible.

Im sure Jaq will know... but during the Mandalorian war the enemy used the same tactics to deadly affect, because we seemed to have a numerical advantage, we can use the same tactics here. And hopefully... *hopefully* we'll trick the sith into thinking there are more of us than there really is." He finished speaking but falling in to get ready to move.

Thryyn nodded after Aeran was done speaking. "I've heard the stories." He said. He then turned to Kevak. "Standing around like this isn't going to help us any. If we're going to go, now is probably the best time."

Jaq grabbed his two blasters and slapped a clip through each of them. "Lead the way, Kevak! We're right behind you!"

Kevak actually liked that the canidates he choose to go with him were so willing to go. He put his vibrosword on his back and felt his lightsaber at his side. He walked over to a dead sith soldier and picked up his blaster. He then walked back to the group and faced Evelyn.

 

"I'll keep in touch with you and your group through the force and update you when I can."

 

He then walked in front of his team.

 

"We'll take a path down the middle and take down any sith patrols we see. From there we'll split up when we get to the base and take any sith inside. Aeran and Thryyn will flank left, Zarena and Shara will flank right, and Jaq and I will give them a good old mandalorian welcome via the front door. If for some reason you can't get in through the sides then come back around to the front door. We'll get in find out what we can and then get out. Any questions?"

"Aye aye, sir!" Thryyn chanted, than, in a rare breach of military formality threw in: "Do you want me to salute to make you feel important?"

 

Reaching into his pants pockets, he withdrew a basic commo unit as well as a datapad. Turning on the Datapad, he looked at the time before smiling. "It's about lunch time, local. If we hurry we'll be able to catch them during a down period."

 

He then flicked the commo unit on and listened hard. "Well, we can rule out using regular communications, that's why my broadcast to Jaq went unheard." He grimaced. "Even though its not important, it would've been nice to have the back up.

 

"So, Kevak, my question, do we need any long rifles, or is this just going to be quick and dirty work?"

 

((I was referring more the fact that we've broken something on the Blade Glider, we're leaving a group with the ship and we're going to some base that looks to be a handful of miles away.))

Bail had heard explosions outside, and hurried to fix the shields as much as possible, and the cannons, where Jojo ran to. Althou the system went go a little bit to late.

 

Bail couldn't see what had happend outside thou, but contacted Jojo to stay in the gunturret, incase of a bigger battle appearing. Bail tried to contact the rest of the crew with the comm-link.

 

"I've heard explosion! Can anyone tell me has happend? And try to avoid them near the ship in the future, I don't want more damage than it already is." Bail spoke.

 

((Hope this is ok, don't really know how to 'jump in' in a smooth way.))

"I'll also take you... Shara, your sniping will be very useful," he said while looking at Erik ,

 

"Right." Shara said, grinning patting her sniper rifle. "I'm ready for some action. Just tell me what to do Kavek." She nodded towards Erik just as Kavek was saying "You won't mind if I borrow your girlfriend for a minute... I'll bring her back."

 

Erik gave a small smirk, and curled his lip. "Cute. Very cute. Yeah, take her wherever you want... She's not my girlfriend." He looked down at his feet, mumbling something under his breath.

"No, she could use some time away from me." She said, giving a small smile to Thryyn. Erik could hear the catch in Shara's voice, Ardana never left Shara's side, he could never remember an instance where they weren't together in a mission. Shara moved closer to Erik, "Take care of her... will you?" "I will." Erik gave Shara's hand a reassuring squeeze. "She'll be fine... I'll insist we stick together. You watch yourself." He nodded towards her, "Are you kidding, when have I ever gotten into trouble?" She said, giving an impish grin.

 

Shara noticed the group she was assigned to begin to leave, she shook her head, still amazed at the variety, and amazed that they hadn't killed each other yet.

"See ya guys later." She said nodding and saluting to Ardana and Erik. "Try not to get killed." She said, grinning, "Right back at ya." Erik replied rolling his eyes.

Shara glanced at the Zeltron, flanking right with the pink girl they called Zarena was fine with her. "Yeah, Kavek I have a question." She paused, "In case you hadn't noticed I sorta just got put into the loop... These... Sith, what sort of resistance are we expecting, and what sort of firepower are we going to be needing?" She grinned, hoping there would be many explosions involved in this little scouting party.

"An excellent question my dear. These should be the same minor foot soldiers we encountered just a bit ago with perhaps a few more elite sith. As for firepower I don't care if you ram a tank into them as long as they're dead."

 

So, Kevak, my question, do we need any long rifles, or is this just going to be quick and dirty work?"

 

"You may use a sniper if you want Thryyn, chances are this will be quick and dirty work."

 

He looked around at his team again.

 

"If there are no more questions let's move out"

 

Kevak began walking through the woods and would take point for his team. He was glad to see that he was much more prefered by his peers and that he could take leadership so quickly.

Aeran stayed silent during the questions, but quickly fell in first behind Kevak, he felt good knowing Kevak was in charge, Sith wouldnt hesitate to use risky and brash tactics, which usually resulted in victory.

 

As they started to walk through the jungle, a more calm atomasphere returned, birds started to sing, insects clicked to eachother from bush to bush, and the sun broke out from the clouds, not that they could really see it through the jungle canopy.

 

Aeran took out a special stun grenade, that was designed to explode the second it hit the ground, causing anyone to caught in the blast radius to be knocked blind for a few precious seconds, and unable to hear.

 

"We'll use one of these for our entry, we'll throw it in, storm the place, and then use the business end of our weapons, it will catch them by surprise.

Its also important that we all report on what we are doing, or at the very least keep in touch, it wont be good if something happens that doesnt go to plan, such as all entrys are extremely heavily defended.. but it may be wishful thinking on my part." Aeran finished speaking, still trudging through the woods, noticing a cannok quickly jump into the bushes when it saw the group.

Shara slowly followed with the patrol, she cautiously scanned the trees and underbrush for movement. She was not going to screw up on this mission, she, Erik, and Ardana had thrououghly ruined their first impression. Now was the time to show the jedi and the rest of them that they were very useful.

 

She stopped short, noting odd movement in a tree, not that of an animal or bird. It was different, she checked through the scope of her sniper rifle. "Zarena..." She whispered, "Do you see that...? In that tree over there. I think there's a hostile." She glanced at the rest of the patrol, unsure of what to do.

 

((Should we make it a Sith? An ambush would be most delightful... ^^ I don't want to push any action on anybody who doesn't want it... that's why I'm checking first.))

Zarena was quite happy flanking. Action is action, even if right now "action" seens tailing a bunch of scowling soldiers through the woods. She gave an inquisitive glance to her new partner before falling into formation.

 

Stomping through a forest ain't really my idea of a good time. Zarena made sure not to trample any twigs, trip over any roots, or disturb any loud, angry mammals that might have been snoozing amongst the shrubbery. Now, perhaps more than she'd realized she would, she missed the city. The jostling crowds. The singing drunks. The smell of speeder fuel.

 

"Zarena..." The human she was partnered with, Shara, was whispering to her. "Do you see that...? In that tree over there. I think there's a hostile."

 

Zarena squinted through the trees. She didn't know animals, but whatever that thing was, it definitely wasn't a bird.

 

"How loud is that thing?" Zarena whispered back, motioning to Shara's rifle. "'Cause I'd say we should just shoot it, but if you're rifle's the "earth-shattering kaboom" sort we'd only draw attention to ourselves."

 

Her hands fell to her holster, and she drew her blaster. Just in case. "But on the other hand, if that really is a patrol over there and we shoot one of 'em, the rest of them will notice." She shrugged and smiled. "Your call, but I s'pose we might wanna tell Captain Sithly up ahead before we go about destroying anything."

(Well we just fought off an ambush, but logic tells me that the enemy will probably attack again, but in more powerful force..... maybe we should throw a few force users into the mix? give Cyborg something to do, lol)

 

Aeran kept on walking up ahead, but turning his head and noticing the two stopping, he still didnt trust them, and signalled for Thryyn and the rest to stop, since Aeran was the only one behind Kevak.

 

After they stopped, Aeran crept slowly foward to Kevak.

 

"The guests have stopped... it could be suspicious, or they have spotted something."

Shar nodded at Zarena, and notcied Aeran stopping to talk wit Kevak. She caught their eyes as they looked at her, and motioned toward the tree. She mouthed, "Sith," and motioned toward her sniper rifle which she was still holding to check the tree through it's scope.

Ardana watched in dismay as Miss Shara left with the other patrol. She didn't like being seperated with her, but she knew that Shara was right. Some time away from each other would be good. It would teach Ardana to watch herself without Shara. She was just as deadly as Shara, yet they were better together and Ardana always felt safer with Shara at her side.

 

Erik noticed the younger twi'lek and stepped next to her, "It's okay... She'll be back soon... I know it." He gave her a reassuring smile and turned to those who hadn't went on the patrol.

 

There was a group still hanging around the ship, "So what now?" He asked, good naturedly, "We don't want them having all the fun now would we?" He said, motioning to the leaving patrol.

Jaq noticed the girls were detatched to the party. He walked beside them to stare at whatever they were staring at. "Whats wrong? We don't have time for site-seeing..."

 

He noticed a rushing within the trees. Animals? For all he knew it could be an over-grown tach monkey.

When Aeran had told Thyyn to halt, he had decided that a sniper would be a good idea right now.

 

Carefully drawing his sniper rifle, Thryyn looked down the scope, finding the other members of the party, they all seemed to have stopped as well. "Looks like everybody else has noticed something." He continued his commentary. "Shara and Zarena have stopped and they're watching some bushes that are moving, Jaq's over there with them too.

 

"I think that Kevak is feeling around with the force, it looks like he's just standing there." Thryyn paused as he looked around with his scope, before switching its digital imagery over to thermal. "We've got one, two, four, six, seven man sized animals, all within the thirty-five to thirty-seven degree range... looks like we've got ourselves a combat patrol."

 

((Well... I guess I'm the idiot who decided that there's something human there... that and didn't read everybody's post all the way through the first time 'round.))

Kevak moved slowly over to Jaq, Shara, and Zarena. He turned to face Jaq in order to inform him of his plan.

 

"You and I will cloak and sneak around behind the patrol. We'll elminate some ourselves," Kevak whispered into Jaq's ear.

 

He then looked at Zarena and Shara and decided to give them a chance to show him what they could do. He walked in front of the two of them and whispered his next words to them.

 

"Jaq and I are going to throw some of these sith soldiers out of their cover, when they are out of cover I want the two of you to shoot and kill them as quickly as possible."

 

Kevak then used the force to cloak himself and went past Aeran and Thryyn towards the spot. He went behind the seven soldiers and did not move a muscle. He took out his vibroblade carefully and waited for Jaq.

"You and I will cloak and sneak around behind the patrol. We'll elminate some ourselves," Kevak whispered into Jaq's ear.

 

Jaq replied with an agreeing grunt. He watched as Kevak used his force cloak on and disapeared into the bushes. Ran a fair distance away from the bush and switched his own cloak.

 

Jaq silently krept through the bushes to find any bending lights, an indication of Kevaks own camo. Now he did. He stood beside Kevak and watched his pull out his vibroblade. Blasters were of no use, and not very inconspicuous. He'll have to use his bare hands.

 

Jaq whispered in Kevak's ear. "You take these, while I take out the ones beside them..."

 

He krept behind the other group of Troopers, whom were looking over a small cliff armed with what appeared to be sniper rifles, aiming for a clear shot at the group below. Jaq looked back at Kevak and waited for his signal to move.

"Jaq and I are going to throw some of these sith soldiers out of their cover, when they are out of cover I want the two of you to shoot and kill them as quickly as possible."

 

Shara nodded in undderstanding, she crouched down and readied her sniper rifle checking the trees and bushes up ahead through her scope. She waited to see troopers come out of the trees.

Aeran felt strange, again, as the party got into position, it would be pretty obvious to the ambushing soldiers that they knew something was up, yet every position remained dead still..

 

"Kevak, something isnt right, if they knew we had spotted them, they would of opened fire ages ago...." He quietly said, looking at the believed locations of them.

 

He crept back a bit and hid in a bush himself, and fixed a scope to his assault rifle, although not as almighty as Thyyrns, it would drop a sith or two, he aimed around the bushes, scanning around them to keep an eye out for anything unexpected.

Thryyn gasped after Aeran was done speaking. He lined up a shot on one of the "Sith's" head and took the slack off of his trigger.

 

"Kevak, permission to fire?" He asked in an urgent whisper he hoped would carry as far as the Cyborg.
