Aash Li
Yes, that's correct. And NEVER EVER did something bad happen to kids climbing trees, stairs, or riding a bike. Broken bones?? These kids are not older than 2 years, their neck and back musculature is not anywhere near being fully developed. In fact it is weak. Even IF they caught the kids every time, it's a big luck that no kid got injured in a more than serious way. Simply falling on the ground breaking an arm is probably the best case accident these kids could face. Imagine one of those punks doesn't get a kid right and twists his neck or back. We're talking about a life endangering situation here. It's not funny, not something these kids can't go through early enough, in general nothing to give out kudos for. And NO, the situation is at no time under any control. Youre missing my point. Over protective parents, or nanny-state governments (local or federal), are worse for children than them hurting themselves while playing. How do you know this family isnt in the circus? Parents in circuses do stuff like that with children all the time! Its training... now, they probly arent in the circus... but thats really beside the point. Which is, you cant safe guard your kids all the time.
HIGH ON PIE 14
Give the kid another year or two and he will be climbing trees and stairs and riding a bike. And swimming... in rivers and lakes; where there are stones and fish and stuff. I'm not saying kids should be sheltered from all that. The difference is that a kid climbing a tree and falling is just that: a kid having fun and falling. Here, the parents are tossing the kid, so if he falls, it is directly the fault of the adults involved. Jae is right here. Broken bones are a big deal, despite what anyone might say. I broke a wrist once, and that was just from falling off my skateboard. I was only maybe a couple inches higher off the ground than I would have been standing, and I still broke a bone. Try taking an AP class when you can't write with your preferred hand. The bones of these little kids, are most likely more delicate than mine, and would probably break more easily. Believe me, I'm one of the people who thinks the government should butt out of private life, and stop playing "big brother." I'm not saying these guys should be arrested or anything, but they are being irresponsible parents. Yes, it is normal for children to get hurt while climbing, exploring, playing, or whatever. But it is the parents' job to minimize the risks, not create more. I don't care if they are part of a circus, which I doubt, as there is no protective matt anywhere in sight. A professional surely would know to use that. I know parents can't safeguard their kids all the time, like everybody else they are human and therefore not perfect. Kids should be allowed to try certain things on their own: its how they grow. But what these nutters are doing is the opposite of safeguarding. ~HOP
EnderWiggin
My daughter fell 3 feet off of monkey bars just slipping off of one of the bars, and broke her arm. This kid had the speed of the toss added onto that. She easily could have hurt something rather badly if she fell. My point was that the child was not going to die. It wasn't a good idea, obviously, and shouldn't be encouraged, but.... They're irresponsible idiots who should be prevented from contributing to the gene pool. Seriously, Jae? _EW_

No you can't keep your kids safe all the time, but that's not an excuse to permit deliberately endangering them either, which is how I read your response. My point is that these kids' bodies are physically not capable of dealing with that kind activity. Training usually happens within the abilities of the body in question. Aash Li
Meh, Im sorry, I just dont see anything wrong with what they are doing... I had people do that to me when I was little. Im in my 30s, and I have never broken a bone in my life. And I am one of the most accident prone people I can think of. Ive had more cuts and gashes and brusies on my body than eval kineval (sp) had broken bones. lol Ive only had stitches once (again accident)... So, Im sorry, but I disagree about this being bad... if they had been doing it over pavement... well that really would be stupid. Grass atleast offers a little bit of protection. *shrugs*
