Rachel_Ewok
I've been reskinning robes and weapons and heads for quite some time now... And I decided it's time to try modeling custom weapons and lightsabers etc. So when I went to download GMax, the website said that it is no longer being offered as a standalone product... So does anyone have another free software that does the same thing? Because I'm still not 100% sure as to what I'm looking for so anyone who has any ideas as to what poor modders such as myself should use just go right ahead and share. *EDIT* Apparently 3DsMax is no more... GMax is fine... So that's what I'm going to be using.... Sorry bout that, I guess that's what happens when you're running on less then four hours of sleep... Marius Fett
I just tried, and the download is fine. Try again. http://files.turbosquid.com/Products/L567271/XFM83W83US/gmax12.exe
Miltiades
*EDIT* Apparently 3DsMax is no more... GMax is fine... 3DsMax isn't free, GMax is. But 3DsMax is still alive, I don't think a product that important would just go away like that.
Inyri
Discreet stopped its support for gmax a while ago. That's probably what you were reading. That's the whole reason it's available on Turbosquid and not its actual developer's site.

I think that eventually Max and Maya will be merged into one product now that they're owned by the same company. _EW_

Would be a powerful tool, if merged.
Inyri
Would probably not be that different. 3DS Max and Maya are fairly similar, all things considered.
