DarthParametric
how do the animations work on that model? The skirt uses bones. There are two bones on the front and two on the back. All I've done is to pull down the bottom row of the skirt's vertexes, so it tends to flap around a bit stiffly. There's also some clipping of the feet through the back part when running. Works better than I expected though. Pruned some posts as they weren't really necessary, and showed a lack of reading comprehension skills on a particular posters part. Now back to your regularly scheduled thread. -RH
DarthParametric
I was working on something for someone else earlier and I realised I had a few unfinished texturing projects laying around. One is the Slave Leia outfit posted above, but the other one is a Mira retexture I started around the same time. I'm not sure I like the red - I think I may go back to green. And she probably needs something under the jacket to stop her getting a cold. Originally I planned on giving her ultra small hotpants, but the UV map makes that extremely difficult, so I cheated and lengthened them. I may need to adjust the map anyway though as I currently can't put a bottom strap on the right thigh pouch without it being mirrored on the left leg. I kind of wanted a Lara Croft style thing. I think the model needs some adjustment too. The shoulder pads are kind of ridiculous, and she could stand a few other nips and tucks. If I could get rid of the raised sleeve on the left arm I could go with my original idea of a short sleeved/sleeveless jacket.
HK-42
Looks good DP, that Mira is awfully revealing heh. Looks good though.

DarthParametric
Yeah but she was always meant to get something extra to wear - just haven't figured out what. That's just the first stage of getting rid of the original shirt.

TriggerGod
I'm not sure I like the red - I think I may go back to green. Try making it gray instead of green. oh my god I think the model needs some adjustment too. The shoulder pads are kind of ridiculous, and she could stand a few other nips and tucks. If I could get rid of the raised sleeve on the left arm I could go with my original idea of a short sleeved/sleeveless jacket. You could try what I did for my Carth's Jacket remodel: Wing it and try to re arrange the vertexes of the raised part to resemble an arm. And try that with the thigh pack, if you can't get the strap right. I think the pack would be rather uncomfortable.
DarthParametric
oh my godNot finished as I said. Maybe I should have put a black censored bar over her chest lol. You could try what I did for my Carth's Jacket remodel: Wing it and try to re arrange the vertexes of the raised part to resemble an arm.Yeah that was the plan. And try that with the thigh pack, if you can't get the strap right. TriggerGod
Yeah debating which is easier - trying to alter the model or trying to alter the UV map. I'd say editing the model would be easier. Although in the end, you'd have to edit the UV Map anyways, so that her leg doesn't have the texture of the pack.
DarthParametric
That's a texture edit, not a UV edit.
TriggerGod
That's a texture edit, not a UV edit. Ah yes. From my small experience with Mira's clothing, I was under the impression that they used the same texture for the thigh pack as another pack(s)
DarthParametric
The smaller belt bags share a texture. The thigh bag is separate as I recall.
DarthParametric
So I started another TSL run through recently. I haven't done any modding for a while, but while playing I got the urge to mod something that has always bugged me. Namely, that the supposed armour of Darth Malak doesn't actually look like anything Malak wore in the first game. So I decided to have a crack at a reskin. Fortunately TSL includes the Malak models and textures, so I may release this eventually. I'm still working out the kinks. The same sort of issue as the Mira reskin has cropped up again - one of those damn leg pouches. Not sure If I really want to edit the model, so I might just skin it to match the legs. The chest pipes are a similar thing, although I've already attempted to blend them in texture-wise. There are some protruding shoulders which I've left as the default metal for the present. I skinned the hands as black gloves, as I figured that was easier to cover the 3 racial skintone variants for PCs. Here's a pic of the skin in its current guise: And a comparison of the original, the reskin, and Malak (sans skirts): As an aside, Malak is a freaking giant! I'm not sure you get to really appreciate the magnitude of it properly in the games, although I just did the Korriban caves earlier this evening and you can kind of see it in a few shots of the recruitment cutscene. Carsew
Everything looks great. And maybe for the Malak armor, you could like cut away half the skirt and add something that goes up on his back. Like his cape in KTR 1.
darth-me
good work on that malak armour, looks much more like everyone's most hated Sith Lord. Also, like someone said before, is that Bastila reskin available anywhere?
DarthParametric
Not at present. It was just something I whipped up for a request. I never submitted it to KOTOR Files as I figured they'd probably deem it not family friendly. I'll dig it out later and throw it up somewhere. EDIT: Available via this thread - http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=200754
DarthParametric
So I decided to have a go at something I've been considering for a while, namely the sword Dein Nomos from the JRPG Tales of Vesperia. It still needs some tweaking and I haven't mapped it yet - just slapped on some procedural textures for rough colour indications. Those who have played TOV will be familiar with the sword, in particular the glowing ball of energy normally at its center. Unfortunately that bit isn't going to be possible in KOTOR. I was thinking a nice companion to go along with it might be Yuri's Fell Arm, the Abyssian sword. Might have to boot up the game again and have a closer look at some of the other weapon designs as well.
