Maximise
Did you read and follow the instructions on the first page of this thread? Yes i did follow the first 4 steps but i cant instal it because there is nothing after the instalshield wizard is finished. there is no instal window of the game itself
MuseMatt
I followed the installation process but still can't run the game, also when starting the game after character creation. I think it's because a) I'm running it on a laptop b) Intel HD Graphics, though updated. My laptop is quite new, which might be the problem as well. However, I managed to run KOTOR 1 just fine. Here's my log, hoping that someone will read this (although this is a very old thread) My Windows is 7 Home Premium sp1 64bit, not using any widescreen patches or fixes. Q
GameVersion=v2.00.424 This tells me that your game isn't patched. If you can get it to run on your Intel GPU, great, but don't be surprised if you can't. It's hit-or-miss with officially unsupported GPUs.
MuseMatt
I patched it to version 1a and then 1b. The link posted at the beginning of the topic did not work for me, so I downloaded the patches from the LA site. I'll give it another go today removing it fully and then retrying. I'll let you know if it had any effect. Thanks for your fast reply!
MuseMatt
I am not sure how, but I got it working at least once now! I should say I added the 3D analyse program, and checked Emulate HW TnL Caps. Also, I ran BOTH the update from the LA site, and the one from here. Despite one not finishing, I am on the new game version now and it works For Intel users I would advice not to give up after the first try. I did not have the blit function in my 3D settings, but still it works. Q
Glad you got it running. The only other thing that I would do is set the width and height values to 1280 and 768 under [Graphics Options] to match the same values under [Display Options]. KotOR2 supports 1280x768 natively, but it's not an available option in the game's menu.
MuseMatt
Good one, I for some reason set them in the first, but not in the second. TSL runs really smoothly too I should say, better than KOTOR ever did! KOTOR had random lines through the worlds on occasion, no such thing here. MuseMatt
Visited Dantooine, Dxun/Onderon so far, on Nar Shaddaa now. I've noticed not all audio tracks are working fine and sometimes conversations are skipping. Is this a known issue? Saw something mentioned about downloading enhanced movie/music files on that site, would that help? It doesn't affect my gameplay so I'm not too worried about this though. alx.dobos
Hello, im an old fan with the kotor games and i wanted to experience them for one more time as i did a few years before. i noticed the problems with windows 7 pro 32bit and i searched on multiple sites how to fix this problem. in the end i came at a hibrid status(im not using the original cd`s). First of all i used the tutorial on this thread, but my main problem was the original cd detection; so i used a no cd crack that fixed the job. First the game started with cinematics and all and it went good even with alt+tab through the computer, then i had to shut it down cause the game kept crashing. im gonna paste my ini file here(and yes im using cheats, im a cheater i know ) hope that i made it a bit more clear. one more thing: i installed only kotor 1, didn`t try it for kotor 2 yet. here is the .ini file: [sound Options] Sound Init=0 Music Volume=85 Voiceover Volume=85 Sound Effects Volume=85 Movie Volume=100 Force Software=0 EAX=0 Disable Sound=0 Number 3D Voices=16 Number 2D Voices=24 Environment Effects Level=0.60 2D3D Bias=1.50 Environment Effects=1 Environment Effects Nonstreaming=1 Environment Effects Streaming=1 [Game Options] GUIsInScreenShot=1 EnableScreenShot=0 Reverse Mouse Buttons=0 Hide InGame GUI=0 Use Small Fonts=0 Keyboard Camera Deceleration=2000.000000 Keyboard Camera Acceleration=500.000000 Keyboard Camera DPS=200.000000 Hide Unequippable=0 Tutorial Popups=1 Subtitles=1 Mini Map=1 Floating Numbers=1 Status Summary=1 Enable Mouse Teleporting To Buttons=1 Mouse Sensitivity=33 Auto Level Up NPCs=0 Mouse Look=0 AutoSave=1 Reverse Minigame YAxis=0 Combat Movement=1 Enable Tooltips=1 Difficulty Level=1 TooltipDelay Sec=1.000000 Memory Access=1 Memory Level=1 Disable Movies=1 EnableCheats=1 [Movies Shown] Movie 0=96 Movie 1=1 Movie 2=0 Movie 3=0 Movie 4=0 Movie 5=0 Movie 6=0 Movie 7=0 Movie 8=0 Movie 9=0 Movie10=0 [Alias] HD0=.\ OVERRIDE=.\Override TEMP=.\Temp MODULES=.\Modules LOGS=.\Logs LOCALVAULT=.\LocalVault DMVAULT=.\DMVault SERVERVAULT=.\ServerVault STREAMMUSIC=.\StreamMusic TEMPCLIENT=.\Tempclient SAVES=.\saves CURRENTGAME=.\currentgame TEXTUREPACKS=.\texturepacks STREAMWAVES=.\StreamWaves [Graphics Options] V-Sync=1 Anisotropy=16 Frame Buffer=1 Anti Aliasing=8 Texture Quality=2 Emitters=1 Grass=1 Soft Shadows=1 Shadows=1 Brightness=57 EnableHardwareMouse=0 FullScreen=1 Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1 RefreshRate=60 Width=1600 Height=1200 [Autopause Options] Mine Sighted=1 End Of Combat Round=0 Enemy Sighted=1 Party Killed=1 Action Menu=0 New Target Selected=1 [config] firstrun=0 [Keymapping] Action286B=8 Action286A=7 Action285B=10 Action285A=9 Action284B=54 Action284A=51 Action283B=54 Action283A=51 Action282B=69 Action282A=73 Action281B=53 Action281A=76 Action280B=69 Action280A=73 Action265=52 Action264=57 Action263=43 Action262=85 Action261=84 Action260=83 Action259=82 Action258=81 Action257=80 Action256=79 Action255=78 Action254=77 Action253=31 Action245=75 Action244=55 Action243=67 Action242=74 Action241=87 Action240=56 Action239=68 Action238=82 Action236=83 Action234=81 Action232=80 Action230=79 Action228=78 Action226=77 Action225=70 Action224=90 Action223=31 Action222=25 Action221=24 Action220=29 Action219=28 Action218=42 Action217=87 Action216=65 Action215=63 Action214=62 Action213=60 Action212=61 Action211=66 Action210=59 Action209=71 Action208=89 Action207=72 Action206=30 Action205=55 Action204=67 And my computer specs: Intel I7 920 2.66ghz Intel dx58so motherboard kingston 3gb ddr3 trichannel Asus gtx 275 896mb 448 bits Samsung Syncmaster P2270HD

T3-M4's dialog is known to be buggy and skippy, although there have been at least 2 mods that address that issue. I have noticed more skippiness when my PC has been in need of a new part - when my GPU started to glitch out a while back, the game began behave much more poorly in dialog and all other cases than is even normal, and I thought it was a mod related issue. She is a sensitive old thing... Who has the most buggy dialog? My guess would be T3 or the Handmaiden. snip I am not sure if we can help you there. I appreciate your honesty though. I suspect the main problem is with not being to update your game due to your .exe.
DriftingFable
Evening, I am trying to get Kotor 1 to run on Windows 7. It's worked fine in the past but now I seem to have problems with it. I have uninstalled it and attempted to reinstall it according the the OP instructions to the best of my ability. Owning a Best of PC version made it a little tricky to decide what was the right course of action and what wasn't. Originally I attempted to follow these instructions to play the game It sounded crazy but oddly enough it worked up until meeting Canderous. Beyond that most of my bugs are simply black screens after the logos, and sometimes black loading screen freezes. Here are the results of my test. MuseMatt
Try installing everything in the order mentioned here, as in post #2. Make sure you update, (for me that was a slight problem) and do things in the right order. Uninstall everything now, reboot (just to be sure), reinstall and try again. Twaggy
I decided to get out my copy of KOTOR, while trying to install it I have come across 2 problems. First it kept saying "Please insert the proper disk" when i tried to start the autorun.exe (this is a genuine disk), so I skipped it to try and just do install.exe, this started up and began installing the game, it asked for the next disks etc etc until the end, where it said "would you a like shortcut on your desktop?" so i press YES, then it asks for disk 4 again, which is already in. and I cant finish the installation. Can you help? Ive installed this game on my laptop before O.o HP dv6750ea Windows 7 32bit
Tonotza
Maybe you would rip your own discs and daemon tools? Then just mount the cd1 and cd4 files when the installation wizard asks it.

I know that the guide is a mess and in dire need of an overhaul at the moment, but it does work. If you've got an Nvidia GPU the game should run fine.
