Darth Payne
On the 16th December 2008 Maverick187 was kind enough give myself and my friends permission to expand on his Jedi Fight Training mod. And here is the link to the Jedi Fight Training (V2). From Maverick187s PM: It's fine by me if you and your friends decide to expand upon the mod I have no plans to revisit it in the foreseeable future, so if you chose to or not is entirely up to you. The only thing I request is that you keep my original readme file intact. I've never heard of the site you found it on before, since all the original files are still unchanged I have no problem with my mod being hosted there, but I wonder what other people would think. Anyway, enjoy the Beta and good luck if you decide to expand. Mav Shortly after getting his permission Star Admiral and canderis agreed to help with this mod expansion, i could never a finished this without Star Admiral wonderfull help. This is a mod i think a lot of people can get a lot of fun out of. Jedi Training Arena Module Version 1 By: Maverick187 Version 2 Expansion By: Darth Payne, Star Admiral and canderis. INTRO: The original mod was done by Maverick187; this expanded version was completed by Darth Payne, Star Admiral, and canderis. For more info, please read the original ReadMe included with this mod. INSTALLATION: This mod uses the TSLPatcher for easy installation. IMPORTANT! Before running the executable, make sure that your Modules folder inside your main KOTOR directory, usually at C:\Program Files\LucasArts\SWKOTOR\, is NOT set to Read-Only. To check, right-click on the folder and see if the Read-Only checkbox is checked. If it is, un-check it and hit Apply and then hit OK when asked if you wish to apply this change to all files and folders within the Modules folder. Now you can run the executable to install the mod. It will modify and/or replace any conflicting files in your Override/Modules folder and save the original files inside the backup folder. DE-INSTALLATION: To uninstall this mod, delete dan13_tutorial.dlg, dp_return.utw, and dp_warp_train.ncs from your Override folder and restore the relevant backup files from inside the backup folder to your Override folder. Do the same for the Modules folder, except delete dp_arena.mod and danm13.rim. COMPATIBILITY ISSUES: If this mod is installed using the TSLPatcher, it should be compatible with any other mod that does not also modify the dialog file for the training computer located in the Jedi Enclave. In the event that there is a conflict with a popular mod, contact us and we’ll see if we can release a patch to make ours compatible. FEATURES: Fight several different enemies; there are a few different groups that get progressively more difficult. Earn extra XP for defeating various opponents. Make use of the healing feature between fights to save on MedPacs. SUGGESTION: As you do get a chance to fight Master Vandar in this mod, it is suggested that you download and install the excellent Yoda Saber mod by oldflash. It modifies the lightsaber model so that it actually fits in Master Vandar’s hands like it is supposed to. It is not required but recommended to get the most fun out of using this mod. BUGS: We are not sure how this came about, but whenever the player uses Stun/Stun Droid on the Droids and Padawans, the next attack results in an instant death for them. Hopefully version 3 of this mod will correct this issue. HOW TO OPERATE: Due to the fact that the this mod makes use of a specific part of a larger module, the only way to get to the trainer is via the computer in the Jedi Training Room in the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine. One of the options warps you to a specific point in the module and there is a computer there to spawn your fellow trainees. As a result, you CANNOT simply type "warp dp_arena" into the console because it will take you to the wrong part of the module and you won't be able to do anything. WARNINGS: The Droids, Padawans, and Knights you can fight as soon as you get to Dantooine. It is HIGHLY reccomended that you not even try the Jedi Masters, the Jedi Council, or Vandar until much later. This mod does do an Autosave before the fight starts, so if you choose a level that is much too difficult to finish, reload the Autosave to avoid the fight. Things start out very easy, but they get progressively harder. The harder groups are very difficult as they are meant to be. If you find that Master Vandar is next to impossible to beat, then good that is how he/she was meant to be. If you don't think it is challenging enough, try it with a HARDCORE mod. It is a load of fun. PERMISSION: If you would like to use this mod as a basis for one of your own, that is perfectly fine. As long as you ask for permission first, and give credit where credit is due. You must also include Maverick187s readme in your mod if you use this one or Maverick187s original Beta version. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: Maverick187 - For originally creating this mod and graciously granting us permission to expand on it. RedHawke & Darth333 - For providing the initial scripts and helpful advice to create version 1 of this mod. Fred Tetra - Awesome KotOR Tool, without it this mod would not be possible. Holowan Labs - Thanks goes out to everyone at the forum for all the help, support, and ideas. CONTACT INFO: PM Darth Payne, Star Admiral, or canderis at the Holowan Labs. Or you could post in the release thread of this mod in Taris Upper City Emporium. THIS MODIFICATION IS NOT MADE, DISTRIBUTED, OR SUPPORTED BY BIOWARE, OR LUCASARTS ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY LLC. Darth Payne
Thanks guys. I submitted the mod to KotorFiles yesterday, so if all goes well i should have a download link for you very soon. I'm really looking forward to when v3 is finally finished. There will be more enemies to fight, such as various Sith, Various Mandalorians, as well as Rancors(the ones from Lehon. The one on Taris is a wee bit on the big side.) Star Admiral
For this version, mostly small changes. They include: - Reducing the difficulty of some of the opponents so they are more manageable. - Prevent the player from getting a lot of lightsabers, blasters, and robes from the remains of the enemies. - Prevent the player from accessing the training computer during fights to either heal or spawn more opponents. - Grant additional XP as an incentive to play the mod. - Provide a healing function to fully heal the player in between fights. - Fixed a few typos. - Create a warp back point so that the player reappears in front of the training computer in the Jedi Enclave instead of the landing pad. Version 3 will fix some bugs in this release as well as create more opponents to fight and better rewards for winning. - Star Admiral
