Marius Fett
Me again... Sorry folks. I'm trying to installing Windows XP on my laptop, but for some reason, before I start the installation, I get a message about Windows not being able to located a Hard Drive. My friend Matt (Stream here on LF) has the same problem. Like him, I can install Linux just fine, just not Windows XP. Any suggestions?
Q
Weird. Just a shot in the dark, but have you checked out the drive settings in your BIOS?
Marius Fett
How do you mean? The BIOS just say that it's a Hitachi...
Ray Jones
I bet you have a SATA controller + hdd in your laptop, and your Windows XP installation CD is an rather old one without SATA support.

Ray Jones
Nah. All you need is the SATA driver on a disk or USB stick. Or a newer Windows installation CD with SATA drivers included.
