3dsMax startup problem

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I just tried to start up my 3dsMax. I get this error

The application failed to initalize properly (0xc0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application

I try a couple more times, thinking it was a one time issue.

I get the error again. Each time.

This perplexes me, as my copy was working perfectly fine last night.

So, is there a solution to my problem?

  • 1 month later...

Well, after being unable to access my computer for an extended period of time, my 3dsMax seems to have encountered the same exact error once more. I was able to fix it the first time by re-installing 3dsMax, but I don't really want to download that monster of a file again and install it all over again, just to have it break down again 2 months later.

Any ideas on what I should do, before I go over to their 'tech support'.

I don't anyone here messes with 3dsMax. Can I take it that you've already asked about this in Holowan?

While 3ds is considered a modding tool, it wasn't created by the kind folks of holowan like KOTOR Tool, the DLG Editor, and MdlOps. And since it doesn't have a lot to do with real modding, but a problem, it didn't seem right to post it in any of the KOTOR forum's modding sections. So I decided to take it to the Techies, where I hoped I would get a good answer.

We are not Autodesk's tech support. General Tech means just that > hardware, OS. etc

With propietary software, you first port of call should always be the vendors support forum. With Autodesk in particular, they have an excellent support forum Quite frankly, Im amazed you came here instead of going there. The AutoCAD and MAYA users I know practically live on there :D

Good luck

helpful as always jmac.

If you do not have a solution to add, any other comment is a waste of everyones time.

I recommend you keep such rubbish to yourself, or perhaps your blog next time :thmbup1:

Autodesk have one of the best product support forums in the world, also one of the prettiest :D I'd savour any opportunity to go there :xp:
