andygeers
It seems to me that this is the best opportunity there's going to be to introduce a whole load of new fans to the Monkey Island series and the world of LucasArts point and clicks in general, and that the more *new* fans can be encouraged to try these games out, the better it will be for the future of adventure gaming (and hence for us! ahahahaha!!! <evil laugh>) I worry that so far, all the hype seems to be fairly limited to existing fans. It's evident from all of the fan art posted here recently that we have such an incredible pool of talent here on these forums, so I'm asking you: what can we do to help promote the new Monkey Island: Special Edition to legions of new fans? What viral YouTube videos can we make? What blog posts can we write? How can we make sure it's the biggest trending topic Twitter has ever seen? The future of adventure gaming is ours for the taking, if only we can work together!!1!!
Fealiks
Yeah, it is a little bit limited to existing fans right now, but not too badly. The thing is, if we see too many new fans then there's a danger of Monkey Island action games and cartoon series D:
LordTrilobite
One site that may be suitable for promotion is http://www.giantbomb.com/ It's sort of a mix between sites like Facebook and a Game Wiki. you can add and edit existing articles about games, and you also have your own profile where you can put your favorite games and much more. KestrelPi
I dunno, I've seen evidence of crossover. For example, many of the people who are fans of Telltale never actually got to play the old Monkey Island games - tales is their first and now they're wanting to go back. The fact that games are appearing on Steam and XBLA also means that it'll get exposed a lot to the mainstream. I wouldn't be surprised if we got some youngin's around here soon saying they first played Secret on XBLA and when can they get the sequel. That's a pretty good point, actually - hadn't thought of that! That's a pretty good argument for why letting Tales be released first was a good call

That's a pretty good argument for why letting Tales be released first was a good call Well I didnt even know what monkey Island was until I came across this forum. So I played it and became a member. Now I have just discovered some of the other monkey islands. I also found a whole bunch of new adventure games. We should promote by promoting the mixmojo site and this site. thats my opinion. And I promote by just getting some of my school buddys into adventure games and then they spread the news all over.
jrrtoken
All we need is time and awareness. I'm certain that there's been a general revival of adventure gaming as a whole since Telltale set up shop, and ToMI and SoMI:SE has only raised even more awareness, especially seeing that both games have been best-sellers on Steam. It's only a matter of time before newer fans come back for more.
purple_tentacle_
Hey I just got an idea! The answere might not be us. It might just be within the game companys themselves. If we want to introduce more people to the adventure game franchise or even just monkey island there needs to be more options. What I am saying is there needs to be more adventure games released and they need to be for multiple systems. Lucasarts was interviewed latley bing asked if there is a possibility that SOMI:SE Might be released for wii or PS3. They answered back with a maby ( Of course!) and that could be the answere. SO it doesnt realy lie in our hands unless they release classics and new adventure games for more consoles giving people mor options resulting in more purchases and more fans. Thats my theory. We can also help by promoting them.
Jeff
There is no excuse for someone looking to get into adventure games to not get the ones LA just put up on Steam, you don't need any kind of good PC to play those. So I certainly think LucasArts is already doing their part, and you can tell because people who have never played these games before are getting into them. purple_tentacle_
To be honest I hope that we don't get new members. I might be new but I prefer small forums to larger ones by FAR. Same here but I am talking about new fans. It doesnt nesisarely mean the forum is going to get bigger. Like you said to me in another thread. You said that you arent realy that new to the forum becasuse you have been reading it for years but you just now became a member. I do that alot. I have been reading forum threads on telltale games website for about a year now and just got an account just to enter in a competion. I also read around on some other forums on different sites and still arent a member. But it is nice to have a small forum. Mojo forums is the largest forum on this site though. Sam and Max is a dud and so is the Indiana Jones forum. Some of the forums like those two arent big at all and are like a ghost town. I released a piece of new art from the new samd and max season 2 for wii about a week ago and just now got a replie.
Sven_Q45
Adventure gamesare niche at these days. So what can we do? I think not much. Maybe only a few fans.
