Game Suggestions!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I have discovered from my own expirience that this is probably the most viewed area of the entire site by "Outsiders".

So I thought that for the guys who have played them all (By the way I am talking about mainly adventure games but you can post other ones too.) I would make a post were people can post some realy fun games that they have played. They can be any type of games but I made this with adventure games in mind but realy post anything for any system/PC and for any age group (Lets try to sway away from little kid games and lets try to keap them in the T or Higher Ratings. But if there is a realy fun rated E game you may post it.)

anyways heres how I imagined it be layed out just copy and past this and add the answeres:

Game: (The name of the game. Please give full name.)

Publisher: (Optional)

Type: (Whats the Genre? Like Adventure or FPS.)

System: (What system did you play it on? Only! the system you played the game on.)

ESBR: (For those of you who dont know this is the rating for ex. E T or M)

My Rating: (How many stars do you give it? 5 is the highest.)

My Review/ Description: (Tell us about it!)

So just type down the answeres and the questions and Click your done.

Please dont post anything but games. If you have anything extra to say please include it in the game suggestion. and anyone feal free to ask for a game suggestion. Heres how you can ask for suggestions:

Type: (The genre of the game like FPS [First person shooter] or stradegy)

System: (The console/ System.)

ESBR: (The game rating for example E E10 T M)

Question: (Ask in detail of what kind of game you want.)

Thanks and please no off topic posts. :thmbup1:

Edit:

Ok here is my suggestion to just get this thing going.

Game: Sam and Max: Season 1

Publisher: Telltale Games

Type: Adventure

System: Wii, PC, and Xbox 360

ESBR: T

My Rating: ****

My Review: This is a great game and worth playing. It is better for the PC. But it wasnt as good as the first "Sam and Max: Hit the road". Real good great adventure game but not for beginers.

OKAY! :D

Game: Odyssey: Legend of Nemesis for the MAC...am trying to emulate my old MAC OS 7.5 on my PC so I can play it agian (yes I OWN the original if anyone wants to get *that technical* as I still have my old Mac Performa 6300CD). Should be compatible with OSX in classic mode.

Publisher: Richard M. Rouse III For Paranoid Productions, 1996

http://www.paranoidproductions.com/

Specific page

http://www.paranoidproductions.com/odyssey/index.html

Type: RPG adventure.

System: Originally the Demo on the above Mentioned Mac Performa 6300. No monitor any mroe and I'm looking for an adapter for their proprietary 15 pin socket to connect ot a modern monitor.

Also played on (I believe) a 2005 or 2006 Mac.

ESBR: None given at that time. Considering the content of violence, explicit general descriptions, and mild profanity, I'd personally say it is 13+ or T for Teen.

My Rating: 4/5 *'s

My Review/ Description: Originally I had the Mac Arcade Pack where I originally played the (rather sizable and large) Demo of this game. Being that this game was 1) originally very hard to get ahold of and 2) by the time I discovered it and was interested enough it was already not being published and sold anymore.

Nearly 10 years pass. Yes, it was *that* good of a story. Worth the wait--and now it's freeware. I was able to play it. All the way through.

General: This game may actually be quite an immersing experience, do expect to spend hours on end with this one. Your antagonist is the only one you play as, and you have your background setting the tone for why you're here. Minimal but I suppose because it is phillisophical and open. Rich storyline--if a bit morbid and tragic. Part of it, though is your call of value judgments. How you see it when you make choices. Be warned, this does not have your typical hollyweird style endings because none of the outcomes are "completely happy". There is also a separate prologue you may wish to read in the instructions, "Simen and Rochelle" to gain the full scope of the protagonist. The protagonist's personality was extremely well written and on pace with the story.

The endings themselves can be decided upon by a certain point in the game, regardless of your choices made throughout the game. There is always a result of a decision made.

Characters are colorful and vibrant on a persona level and many of them in the art illustrations. However, some of them may in fact be a reference or a metaphor to something else. (Same can be said of powers).

The only gripe I have was the reference to Karl Marx and a (naive, idealistic, and over generalized) play on his ideas of communism; how a certain part of the game is loaded to incorporate this. Thankfully, you don't need to erect a communist government! (Just merely right a wrong with no bloodshed.)

You are constantly figuring out puzzles and solving mysteries from the get-go. Some simple some rather complex, or at the least have an elusive key to each that is presented in an ......ironic way. Many have more than one way to solve them. Some don't. Most of all you must use your brain and think about the puzzle. Worth at least two playthroughs.

The artwork & graphics: Not bad for an ~8 bit ish level of graphics. Cover art was actually done by Derek Riggs. The Cover artist for none other than Iron Maiden. Has a sort of retro genuine feel to its looks. Adequate at the least.

Sound: GREAT! Excellent music on piano. Classics from the likes and works of: J.S. Bach, Johannes Brahms, Frederic Chopin, Claude Debussy, Dmitri Kabalevsky, Sergei Rachmaninov, Sergei Prokofiev, Erik Satie. Sound effects are spot on. Also the sound in general is excellent even in modern day surround.

Game Mechanics: Good, but perhaps not great. The auto targetting system can be confusing and I'm not sure how the programmer designed its 'priority'. Occasionally it can mean trouble in certain spots. Certain areas and things are not accessible by any means in the game. (WTF?:confused:Why?)

The Leveling system is straightforward except you cannot level up *every* area of discipline. You max out a discipline at a certain level and only get so much more experience from that point. I'd say a level or two per area.

Difficulty: it is plotted somewhat on a sharp curve. Mind where you are going. Enemies can suddenly become much harder to defeat. Or much easier. Also, even if you have maxed out your character, the enemies near the end will still cause you trouble. Overall I'd say fair & clever. Somewhat balanced. Kept me entertained for 2 weeks.

All in all, you will not be sorry. May not be the best ever but it has its good and great points along with the bad. Underrated in some ways.
