PR-0927 Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 ...as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced: http://pc.ign.com/articles/112/1127094p1.html **** you, Activision. Oh, and you too, LucasArts. - PR-0927
Kjølen Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Raven Software, known for making innovative, good games, is having layoffs and shuffled into making CoD maps. Yeah, Activision is run by drunk college frat boys.
acdcfanbill Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 I would feel slightly bad, since Activision sucks so much, but Raven hasn't been exactly steller in the game department lately either. Maybe some fat trimming may help them out in the long run.
BongoBob Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Yeah, but being reduced to making CoD maps? As an avid MW2 player (hopefully soon to be avid Black Ops player) all I can hope for is that they're good balanced maps unlike the first 3 that Infinity Ward brought out for MW2 (Domination on Salvage is totally fair and balanced, totally -_-).
PR-0927 Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 Raven Software, known for making innovative, good games, is having layoffs and shuffled into making CoD maps. Yeah, Activision is run by drunk college frat boys. Agreed. I wish the CoD series would just die! - PR-0927
Liverandbacon Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Raven Software, known for making innovative, good games, is having layoffs and shuffled into making CoD maps. Yeah, Activision is run by drunk college frat boys. Raven's last few games haven't exactly been innovative or stellar, and a studio can only coast on its reputation for so long. However, being relegated to making COD maps is harsh. Hopefully that rumor is just a rumor. Also comparing Activision's leadership to drunk frat brothers is just unfair... to frats. At least fraternities appreciate fun... Activision doesn't.
BongoBob Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 They're not the only Activision devs to get hit, now Tony Hawk developer Robomodo got hit with huge layoffs. What kills me is just last week, Bobby Kotick took shots at EA, saying they're suffocating studios. And then a week later both Raven Software and Robomodo get butchered.
TiE23 Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Robomodo were commanded to make Tony Hawk: Ride... It's a shame they weren't given something that could have been good.
PR-0927 Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 It gets worse: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=330848 - PR-0927
PR-0927 Posted October 19, 2010 Author Posted October 19, 2010 Well, apparently now they're back - the thread I linked has an update. - PR-0927
Darth Avlectus Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 When it rains, it pours. :'( I would feel slightly bad, since Activision sucks so much, but Raven hasn't been exactly steller in the game department lately either. Maybe some fat trimming may help them out in the long run. I hope you're right.
