Sabretooth
Another PC game: Amnesia. Its so freaky, I havent worked up to courage to go out and buy it yet o.0 I second this, although Haunted House here is more like Haunted Gothic Castle That Is Meant To Be Haunted. It's pretty creepy, but the horror is more Lovecraftian than the classic haunted-house style. I still haven't finished it on account of its sheer scariness. >_> The prison level... goddamn. There's also an (almost archetypal) haunted house section in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, if you haven't played it. It's only part of a quest in the game, and lasts about an hour, maybe, but it's pretty much the stuff you want. The rest of the game is unconnected to that part though, just so you know. I'd be interested in knowing any classic haunted house books as well. I loved the Goosebumps books as a kid, but it seems that all adult horror literature is mandatorily either Lovecraftian, Sci-Fi or Torture Porn. Tommycat
I personally liked "The Shining" as a "haunted hotel" book. The movie really didn't do it justice.
stingerhs
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem granted, not all of it takes place inside of a creepy mansion, but a healthy dose of it does. maybe its because i was younger when i played it, but it still ranks as one of the creepiest games of all time in my book.
