Favorite Droid apps

So, I got a Droid phone finally (mostly because my carrier doesn't have the iPhone yet). I love the faster internet.

So, what are your favorite apps for a Droid? What are the ones that we should avoid like the plague?

My favorite thing I have is LauncherPro. There's all kinds of customization options you can change on the homescreen (and you can have up to 7 pages, while the default gives 3, I believe), and it's seemed to make it run a little smoother than the default.

Task killer apps are pretty unnecessary for Android, so I don't think you should worry with them. If you ever have so much running that it considerably slows down the phone, it's easy enough to fix in the settings menu.

One word: Elixir!

And the one I'm using now while typing this: Pulse.

They're long to explain but a techie like you will know exactly what to do with them ;-)

Which Android did you get Jae?

Rings extended: Good app to change your default rings and alarms to something you actually like.

Flash for web sites.

Angry birds to cause you to lose sleep and kill time.

Ventrilloid: It's handy if you want to access your ventrillo server while not at your puter.

Advanced Task Killer: Some apps just don't want to shut down and drain your battery.

A good head's up is to use the "power: widget on one of your home screens. That way you can turn off the continuous refresh and shut off the bluetooth, wi-fi, and GPS when you arent using them.

I ended up with an HTC Desire (Droid 2.2).

I have bluetooth and wifi turned off since I don't use them. I'll check GPS, too, though it might be on. I did pick up Angry Birds--hilarious!

I also picked up Tricorder, Skype (of course!), Fruit Ninja, Color Note, Sims 3, Moron Test, Uno, Ad blocker, antivirus, Barcode scanner, Combadge, Epocrates, Medscape, French Verbs, Geek Quotient, Star Trek Soundboard, Voice Recorder, Speech Synthesis, Le Monde, CNN, and Fox News, Adobe Reader, and CamScanner so far.

I need a bigger microSD card. >.<

Though I do like apple products, I hear a rumor the new upcoming PSP2 (NGP?) is going to be a similar platform for phone to android... If it's going to be as sweet as I think it'll be...anyone buying it ought to take out an insurance policy on it and have it tethered to their leg in the mean time.

I did get that one, too. Heh. Slingshotting angry birds at pigs is hilarious.

That sound awesome. I always liked mischief games like that.

The PSP2/NGP is not the "PSPhone", that would be the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.
