Fallen Guardian
So I was experimenting in making a module that is normally in daylight, be in night. However, when doing so I only partially succeeded. I changed all the lightmaps and the majority of the textures are darker, but the NPC's and the some textures are still lit as if it were day. Here's a pic: Show spoiler (hidden content - requires Javascript to show) Does anyone have any ideas as to what's going on?
Darth InSidious
Did you alter the dynambientcolor or fog settings in the .are?
Fallen Guardian
No, I'll try doing that. Are there any specifics I need to know before editing them? EDIT: I tried changing it to 0, the Shadowland's value, and the Taris Undercity's value. They all had no effect whatsoever.
newbiemodder
It probably has to do with the model itself...those particular parts/objects of the mdl for that room may have some unique lighting that is overriding the .tga to give it a desired effect...usually you see it with lights and things like that...you may be able to minimize the effect by darkening your .tga file for that grassy area, and hex edit/replace. Fallen Guardian
Alright I'll try that, but is there a solution for the characters being lit as if it were day?
Dak Drexl
I don't think so. IIRC in Canderis' darker Peragus mod he could not find a solution to the character's lighting. Though I don't think its a big deal since it might be annoying not being able to see your guy (or girl).
Fallen Guardian
It's odd that the character's seem to get darker in other modules that have dark lighting but not one that starts with bright lighting.
newbiemodder
The coloring of the characters in different modules may be due to the aurora lighting of the mdl's which is separate from lightmaps...if so, nothing you can do.
Fallen Guardian
Well that stinks. Maybe I'll drown them in fog or something.
