Object causes sonic boom experienced in CA and NV

Recommended Posts

Just curious, anyone else here know about it? I heard it and it left behind a 30 second rumble.

Supposedly it happened in the far, far southern sierras. Not too far from me. I hear from some people it was a washing machine sized burning meteor that exploded with a chunk landing somewhere near this region.

A friend of mine IRL thinks it a a missile and weapons testing. Some claim to have seen it others like myself only know what they heard or perhaps felt. Tell you what though, anyone finds what crashed they'll either be really rich or have a story to tell people depending what it is. :devsmoke:

EDIT: CRAP, speedtyping...Pretend the "CS" in the title is actually CA. No I will not...:dev14: - mimartin

EDIT EDIT: fwiw thanx

I hear sonic booms almost everyday living in SoCal, and especially near Edwards Air Force Base. When exactly did this happen? I'm in the Mojave area and haven't heard/felt anything out of the ordinary as far as booms go.

Sunday morning.

My location is relatively close to Travis air force base. This was not like any of that. It made a very loud BOOM with a lingering rumble that shook all the windows of my house for about 30 seconds. Same thing in the rest of the neighborhood. Normally it'd be nothing to talk about but it was felt as far southwest as Bakersfield CA, and as far northeast as Reno NV.

I realize a meteor is a bit outlandish but if the news all over is talking about it, there could be something to it.

Or this is all propaganda, we're all delusional and the boom was some weapon being tested. I mean, hey, take your pick.:)
