RoyTordesLegend Posted May 27, 2014 Author Posted May 27, 2014 I feel we haven't properly discussed how long Lucasforums has left.... ....and more importantly, a contingency plan.... ....discuss
Huz Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 It's in a death spiral right now. The only alternative open to us is to migrate to Friendster.
RoyTordesLegend Posted May 27, 2014 Author Posted May 27, 2014 What in the name of all that's holy is 'Friendster'?
Zoom Rabbit Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Sounds like some horribly European version of Facebook. No good, because all of those sites are tied into the USA's spy network, and the ratmothers will own our fishbowl. No way! I say we all meet at Jack's Hideaway on the corner of McAndrews and Court Street, Medford Oregon each night at 10 pm (US Pacific standard time) for Harbour tyme if the website goes down. There are no NSA spies there; I checked.
Artisa Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 What IS Friendster? Sounds vaguely familiar... like a memory from a dream... or nightmare..... Speaking of how long this forum has left, it sort of went down for a bit a few days ago when I was online at like 3am GMT :/ Thankfully it was temporary, but a contingency plan would be beneficial. Why not embrace the corporate wonder that is Facebook? If anything it certainly keeps people connected.
Zoom Rabbit Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Over at the XWA (X-wing Alliance) forum, we do have a couple of Farcebook clubs set up where we all can meet if the Lucasforums website goes down. We could do something similar here, but it would take the leadership of someone familiar with the mechanations of the Beast and his tentacles to set it up...
Artisa Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Am I seriously to believe that no one here has a facebook account? And there are Monkey Island groups on fb, more than one to be exact.
mimartin Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 How long has Lucasforums got left? 5 years, 7 months, 13 days, 17 hours, 43 mins and 29 seconds, no wait 27 seconds, wait 18 seconds.
Artisa Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 5 years, 7 months, 13 days, 17 hours, 43 mins and 29 seconds, no wait 27 seconds, wait 18 seconds. No! It has to be at LEAST a decade or I won't get my 10 year veteran badge!!
Zoom Rabbit Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 However, that is enough time for me to finish building my life size Chinese sailing ship out of popsicle sticks.
RoyTordesLegend Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 However, that is enough time for me to finish building my life size Chinese sailing ship out of popsicle sticks. Lollypop sticks* You're in the US minority here Zoom, you'll have to use proper lingo.
Artisa Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Lollypop sticks* You're in the US minority here Zoom, you'll have to use proper lingo. Funny, I also thought of "lollipop" when I read that.
Zoom Rabbit Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 A lollipop stick is round, and a popsicle stick is flat. I am a food expert, you know. Next you're going to tell me cough drops are called 'throat sweets' or some damn silly thing like that...
RoyTordesLegend Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 don't get me started on that travesty that is Jelly and 'Jello'.... Jelly....the wobbly stuff you have with ice cream Jam....the fruity stuff you spread on your toast Jello....imaginary American nonsense
mimartin Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Jello....imaginary American nonsense You just haven't had it with cream cheese.
Zoom Rabbit Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 *Jello* is a stock made of boiled bones, the natural compounds within which form a thick gelatin after rendering. Add fruit flavors and sugar to your skeletal horror show, and it becomes a yummy treat for children. Jello must be avoided, as it is icky.
Artisa Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Next you're going to tell me cough drops are called 'throat sweets' or some damn silly thing like that... I call them Strepsils! And jello is awesome! If I could only get one open once in a while.
RoyTordesLegend Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 *Jello* is a stock made of boiled bones, the natural compounds within which form a thick gelatin after rendering. Add fruit flavors and sugar to your skeletal horror show, and it becomes a yummy treat for children. Jello must be avoided, as it is icky. No, that's JellY You Americans and your insane tinkering with the English language. If you just called Jam Jam, and not Jelly, you'd not have to call Jelly Jello. Crazy people.
Artisa Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Funny, we had jelly in jars in Bangladesh that looked like jam to me but was actually slightly more jelly-like in consistency Never liked that stuff in the jars. Real jam and real jelly not in jars is great though. Jarred jam, jelly and jello. Say that five times fast!
Zoom Rabbit Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Well, here in the land of the free and the linguistically sensible, jam refers to the more fruity and loose consistency of a proper preserve, and jelly is the clearish, gelatinized fruit flavored crap fat women in trailer parks feed their offspring. (This BBCode requires its accompanying plugin to work properly.) To avoid all future confusion, we should refer to jello/jelly as 'flavored aspic.'
Artisa Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Damn, that looks like another video that's possibly older than me! No jello? Let them eat custard.
