Ideas for 'Easter Eggs', and secret areas in JO :)

Recommended Posts

I know it's a little early to discuss this yet, considering Raven has only made one level so far :). And I'm pretty sure that none of these ideas will make it into the game, though you never know ;). But anyway, I'd like to see what everyone would want to see in some hidden place, or some secret ledge--they were always the best part of Dark Forces and Jedi Knight for me .

If anyone remebers Max, the insane rabbit from 'Sam and Max' appeared in JK and DF, I hope he returns once again ;).

I'd love to see a Dark Trooper make an appearance in some secret area on JO. Maybe you could pick up the weapon after you kill it :).

A holocron that let's you learn some new power would also be pretty cool .

And, instead of Jedi Knight's tiny secret areas, I'd hope they bring back Dark Force's huge secrets :). I assume that all of you that own DF have gone though the first level, and gotten all the secrets their. If you did, then you'd notice the very detailed steps you'd have to take to get there, and the interesting things you'd see. The secret areas in Imperial City were also well done :).

I look forward too seeing all of your ideas :).

Many cool ideas Thunder...

I have only one wish for secret areas though, and that is that you don't have to find them in order gain levels, that is assuming you do gain in levels. :)

But some bonus beyond items is a good idea as it motivates players to search for them.

How 'bout a giant Rancor Sam, or an arcade game machine tucked away in a corner of one level where you can play the old Return of the Jedi Arcade Game. They never actually made that in a PC version. Or how 'bout a "space chess" table in one level like on the Millenium Falcon where you can actually play a game against the computer.

Or how 'bout a pin the grenade on JarJar game. Or maybe an eviscerate Neelix game and then you could.... oh wait  ...wrong universe. Sorry.

How about a secret bedroom, where Mara lies waiting for Kyle in Jedi lingerie?

Mara: "Is that a lightsaber in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?"

Kyle: (Looking down towards his nether-regions) "Hmmm... the force is strong with this one."

Mara: "A Jedi feels the force flowing-"

Kyle: "Yeah, I can feel it all right!"

Mara: (Indicating interrogation droid) "...And now we will discuss the location of your secret rebel porn collection."

Actually I was referring to the Return of the Jedi game that was only available in the arcade. It was the one where you ran the speeder bikes through the woods, then the scout walker, then you flew the Millenium Falcon into the Death Star II to shoot the reactor and then tried to get out. I actually had that Arcade Machine in my apartment for a couple years. It used the same controller as the old Vector x-wing game. Actually, I just figured out that I'm probably one of the only one's here old enough to remember all of this stuff. Ahh those were the days.

I know this is just harmless speculation, and not to sound arrogant, but Easter Eggs in games are and should be based on the whims of the developers. Whatever their kinky little hearts desire they deserve to be able to secretly slip in there; after all, they are the ones busting their asses on the game. Often times Easter Eggs are personal to them and can't really be asked for nor demanded by anyone else...

But hell yes, I hope they throw a bunch of interesting secrets as well as Easter Eggs in there. :)

No--much older game.

SW with vector graphics was a big success--you can still find it in some arcades. So they followed it up with a Jedi one a few years later. It never seemed to me like it was as much fun and I rarely ever saw it. I think it was mid 80's though. I don't think Sega started making SW games until about 10 years later.

http://www.atlargefeatures.com/purcell/sample1.html Here is a Sam and Max comic online. Apparently the author is trying to get syndicated.

That's right. I guess some of us are from the old school. The first were vectors from ATARI, a Starwars and then a modified version of the same made into The Empire Strikes Back. I bet most of you didn't ever play that one. It wasn't around long. The ROTJ was a raster graphics game and it came out at the same time as the old Indy and the Temple of Doom arcade game.

Anyway I was just thinkin of some old classics that would easily incorporate into a FPS cause they'd be such tiny programs these days. It's all just for fun 'cause the programmers get to make the real easter eggs. Just playin' with the possibilities.

So while we're at it, how bout a follow the Gonk game? That could be an excellent diversion for about 6 hours at a time.
