How can you guys play this game, its TERRIBLE!!!. It's so slow, don't buy this game plz. Empire Earth is soooo much better, SWGB should have been a free mod!!! It ruined the aok engine and It's just dumb.

Whilst the graphics in SWGB are 2-3 years behind the latest 3D graphics of EE there is something about SWGB that is challenging and very playable. EE concept is very big but I'm still not convinced 3D was the way to go with this sort of game.

 

SWGB has enough new features from AOK to make it more than just another mod. As for being free. I don't think LA would give away their licensing for nout.

 

SWGB is directed at a small concept universe and what it does it does vey well.;)

 

As for speed I suggest if you find it running slow and EE running Ok then there may be something wrong with your setup.

Slow gameplay? That doesn't mean the game sucks, it means your computer sucks. Either that or your video card sucks.

 

I bought Empire Earth too. It sets on a pile of other games I don't play. The graphics on Empire Earth are worse then SWGB. If you look closely the units are really, REALLY small.

Seems kind of pointless that you regester for these forums just to spout out the GB sucks without any backing

Yeah it is a bit pointless...maybe he just signed up for JKII forums...who knows...

 

Now if you want to add some Constructive Critisism about the game. That is fine...plenty of people do that. But that post was basically pointless...

Well the gameplay isn't any slower than AOK, and that game is kinda popular;)

 

Nothing says every single RTS game out there has to be action-packed all the way through from beginning to end. It's a strategy game, not a FPS.

 

If you like faster paced games, fine, but that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with GB, just that it isn't the game for you. Though you might want to play DM on fast speed before making that decision.

Exactly, darthfergie. This is a fan site, not a hate site.

 

Granted, some missions are "slow"; you start out with a small-to-medium sized army, discovers some base, somehow takes over it (it's given to you by the owners, you capture it, etc.), then you must build an army and destroy the enemy bases. But not all of them are like that! Tried the rebel Hoth mission. Don't call that slow. The imperial Endor mission? Slow? Yeah, right.

 

Oh, and there is also a scenario editor, which lets you create your own "fast-paced" scenarios.

The thing I like about Gb is the campaigns are of good quality...

Empire Earth is just a bit weak in the campaign area...When I play EE I just play skirmish and make my own civ (which is pretty cool!!!)

and he means it takes a long time to build up every thing and win games usually last 3-4 hours !!!!! and that is slow.

i dont know about you guys, but i see this same crap all the time. i dont know if any of you play Counter-strike (the greatest 1st person shooter ever--there's no argument) you've probably read the forums. every once in a while, there's some fag shouting out that counter=strike or the whole concept of video gaming sucks and that they're quitting gaming entirely. this is funny for two things: first, they're just trying to grab attention, sort of as if they enjoy getting flamed. Second, these people are the same 12-14 year-olds failing some mississippi high school (for those of you not living in the US, 85 percent of the southern population is filled with hicks not knowing their **** from their foot) trying to show that they're "better" than everyone else. well i'd just like to say that i, among many other NY private school students among the top 1% of their class, get really pissed when noobs (i use the term in many senses) try to ruin the fun of computer gaming for everyone else. go ahead and play EE. just **** off this forum. k?

u know if people were just rts fans they might as well play aoe

 

but people who play starwars: GALACTIC BATTLEGROUNDS are starwars fans

and starwars fans are starwars games fans pure to the heart

 

and if it was just an rts game they wanted they might as well play a cheaper game but noooo they want a STARWARS rts game

 

so they get swgb

I love this game. It combines two of my favorite things. RTS games and SWGB. If you want a fast paced RTS play Starcraft, because Zerg can rush you within 3-7 minutes. No single RTS is perfect, so its pointless to point out what's wrong with this game.

 

A lot of people from different backgrounds like Star Wars and SWGB. I'm a Sophmore at CU and I'm a avid gamer.

 

If you think this game is slow try playing Homeworld online. It might take you an hour just to find the other player!!

Sounds like someone is just trying to get people all worked up for some heated conversation.

 

I'm glad its "slow" in the sense of building and gathering resources etc. Who wants a 5 minute RUSH strat everytime? Thats lame and kills the life and size of the game's community.

 

As far as gameplay it runs quite nicely on my system.

I agree, SWGB games can go forever, but is that a bad thing?

If a game goes for a long time it is labeled slow....ok fine, but where does that lead, it dosnt prove or make a point.

 

Long games are the best, i love them. Who wants rushes all the time any way.

 

And mind you, it is quite easy to pull a rush in this game:p

Well i would just like to say i got the game today and couldnt be more pleased.This game is well put together,its been a while since ive had this much fun learning a game!
