Natty
OK- I know I'll probably get abused for it, but I've never played Grim Fernando, anyways I basically just got home from looking at some stuff for Christmas, and I saw it in a computer shop for $25 or something, anyway I know a lot of people have played it, so can someone give me some background info on the game? I'm considering buying it, but obviously if it has a good review and I know a bit about the plot of the game- which I didn't kinda understand with what was written on the back of the box
raVen_image
I hope you mean "Grim Fandango", otherwise, this review will mean nothing. Aptly named, Grim Fandango means "Gloomy Spanish/American Dance" or it sometimes means, "Dance with the dead". You would play Manny Calavera, a travel agent for the dead. It's your job to usher people to the Great Beyond in the best accomidations you can get for them, based on their lifestyle. You are struggling, because all the dead that get ushered your way have been bad people in life and you can only obtain mediocre accomodations for their journey. Your boss has been angry, because all you can get for you clients is poor accomodations. Finally, you get a just and good soul, but when you try and get her first-class ...all you can get for her is steerage. Perhaps someone is thwarting your attempts? She disappears and you set out on a quest to find her, get her first class, and redeem yourself with your boss. This is a mystery in the film-noir style (like Sam Spade) except with Mexican overtones. You are trying to find this young soul better passage through the Land of the Dead...but it turns into a mystery involving Gangster-like antagonists, a Maquis-like underground, and Demon allies. Over-all, the story is a little trite, but the puzzles are challenging and the music and acting are top-notch. If you like Adventure Games, this is not too bad. Score 8/

Metallus
Manuel Calavera is the hero of the story. He's a reaper/travel agent in the eighth underworld. And he looks absolutely badass! How much more convincing do you need?

MtBlanc
The last post by Griswold was deleted by me, as it recommended going online to Morpheus to illegally obtain Grim Fandango. We do not advocate that method of game acquisition here on these boards. I didn't want to lock the topic because everything was nice and legal up to that point. Remember LEC is watching us! Simon Jeffrey has eyes in the back of his head. Anyways, here's a nice and legal haiku I wrote about GF, that you can see in the Grim Fandango boards: /me puts on a beret Amazon(dot)com Sells the Grim Fandango Game Still only ten dollars Thank you. Natty
Sounds like it was lucky I didn't see Griswolds post Seriously Griswold, by downloading games that are still avalible in shops, such as GF are (although I admit this is the first time I've ever seen it- I probably saw it when I was younger, but was too little to understand or figure out what it was) but by downloading games that are still avalible to buy, you're cheating LA or any company out of money that they so deserve. You could say that they have enough money, and that one person isn't gonna make a difference, but if everyone has that same attitude, companies will lose so much money, they won't have any money to produce more games from us coz stingy people downloaded the game when they could have bought the game. Think about it Griswold Ohhhhhh Dinghy's a poet
MtBlanc
I'm a poet? I sure know it. And every time I make a rhyme. I wish I would stop, This post is a flop. This is too deep, Meh, time for sleep.
